Iranian Jet Engine Design and Manufacturing Company is Established

Turbofan engines are one of the hardest things to accomplish. How will Iran do it without any insight/experience on this technology before and no significant help from outside world (West, China, Russia)..

The same why they will defeat KSA: in their dreams.

Reverse engineering need a strong base industrious knowledge and facilities to start with. If you give all blueprint and know how to Somalia, do you think they still able to build it?

Not mean to say iran is Somalia level. But reverse engineering is not as simple as just copy it.

I suggest iran not to go too ambition. Go for a medium thrust turbofan which require less strenuous on metallurgy.

The program seems to be similar to China's own WS-10 reverse engineering program: Shenyang WS-10 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Same engine, same parameters, same thing.

China did it in 1990's. Let's see if Iran can do it now.

We learn the hard way which is why we decided to go for a new design rather than reverse engineer for the WS-15 class engine.

Well, you have to start somewhere.

CFM-56 is a good platform to start work on since it is not super advanced anymore but in 1970's it was super advanced for its time so much so that US had put restrictions on its exports in 1970's.

CFM-56 core powers smaller regional passenger aircrafts such as 737 as well as the big ones such as Airbus A-340-300. The same core also can power B1B, F-14, F-15 and F-16 under various technical derivative designations of GE F101 and F110.

So it is a multi-purpose engine. China went on to design WS-15 only after China had learned CFM-56 inside out and mass produced it. And even then WS-15 is itself hardly ground breaking. It aspires to be like the American F119.

What do u think about russia and us? About 60 years ago they started studying on that tech, they developed the tech from beginning level and now they have reached their goal...
i appreciate that they r muster mind in that fact...bt if u think about iran u can find that she was also studying on that a lot of years ago....when the safaq project started......... and may be it's failure lead iran to develop new generation engine .....for their own need......from that case, any one can say iran had been studying on that tech for about 20 years...
20 years is enough for gathering experience and knowledge.....
besides iran produced a lot mini and medium sized engine....u all saw that...
i think, designing and building a new or existed engine, will not be tough enough for iran....

We started the work on jet engines about 20 years ago !!!

We are going to prove our industrial base :D

No problem if you underestimate Iran's capabilities now ... we are going to teach the hard way !!!

J-90 turbofan engine :

Saeghe-90 ... J-90 ... Fakkor-90 ... :D

Let me release something for the first time :

Iran working on a new jet engine for the new generation Saeghe (90) ... base on RD-33 !

but Iranian engine is a bit smaller ...

New saeghe will be the first Iranian capable fighter jet with a modern cockpit / weapons / ... etc ...

In fact something between F-5 & F-18 !

Is that going to be rided on Qaher as well?

According the Mashregh News, the Article of Incorporation was signed by Iran's Leader about 10 days ago and its related budget is now part of Iran's official defense budget.

According to the article of incorporation, the company is tasked with design and manufacturing of Jet and industrial engines. According to the same resolution, all of the other companies currently working on the same topic will be merged into the new company.

Here are the main activities of the company:

1- Designing and manufacturing Airplane, Helicopter and Drones engines.
2- Design and manufacturing of the parts related to the above.
3- Design and manufacturing of industrial engines required for defense industry
4- R&D on related items with or without foreign countries cooperation.

After 50 years of hard work and spending billions Indian could not make their Kaveri engine to fly!!! You think Iranians can do it?

Kaveri is good engine ...

General characteristics
  • Type: afterburning turbofan
  • Length: 137.4 in (3490 mm)
  • Diameter: 35.8 in (910 mm)
  • Dry weight: 2,724 lb (1,235 kg) [Goal: 2,100-2450 lb (950-1100 kg)]
Components
  • Compressor: two-spool, with low-pressure (LP) and high-pressure (HP) axial compressors:
    • LP compressor with 3 fan stages and transonic blading
    • HP compressor with 6 stages, including variable inlet guide vanes and first two stators
  • Combustors: annular, with dump diffuser and air-blast fuel atomisers
  • Turbine: 1 LP stage and 1 HP stage
Performance
  • Maximum thrust:
  • Military thrust (throttled): 11,687 lbf (52.0 kN)
  • Full afterburner: 18,210 lbf (81.0 kN)(planned to be refined to >95 kN)
  • Specific fuel consumption:
  • Military thrust (throttled): 0.78 lb/(lbf•h) (79.52 kg/(kN·h))
  • Full afterburner: 2.03 lb/(lbf•h) (207.00 kg/(kN·h))
  • Thrust-to-weight ratio: 7.8:1 (76.0 N/kg)
Engine cycle
  • Airflow: 172 lb/s (78.0 kg/s)
  • Bypass ratio: 0.16:1 (it should be increased to 0.5:1)
  • Overall pressure ratio: 21.5:1 [Goal: 27:1]
  • LP compressor pressure ratio: 3.4:1 [Goal: 4:1]
  • HP compressor pressure ratio: 6.4:1
  • Turbine entry temperature: 2,218-2,601 °F (1,214-1,427 °C; 1,487-1,700 K) [Goal: 3,357 °F (1,847 °C; 2,120 K)

IF Tejas was 2 engined fighter jet , Kaveri would be suitable engine for it ....

You should use Kaveri for yur fighter program as plenty of them lying in the warehouses as Tejas opted for GE engine finally.

All specification are good in paper, the only problem engine shuts down automatically when it sees enemy aircraft in the vicinity or at certain altitude.
