Walton and ACI set to enter semiconductor manufacturing business

About no. 3, it would depend on the type of the material used to fabricate the semiconductor / microchip / microprocessor. There is interest in alternate methods to achieve microprocessors and other semiconductors using materials and methods such as miniaturized vacuum tube, diamond-based electronics and graphene-based electronics. So Bangladesh should first decide upon the method and material of achieving semiconductors and then set up the fabrication plant and the manufacturing machinery need not involve interaction with the USA and EU at all. @Bilal9 @AmiEktaKharapChele @Skull and Bones

What kind of electronics does India manufacture ? :)

You know Sanghis keep chest-beating that India exported millions of dollars in electronics - mostly to neighbor countries and Africa. What are they - other than maybe cellphones assembled from Chinese kits? Back in the day Bangladeshi traders used to import Karbonn cellphones made in India to Bangladesh (made from Chinese parts) but that is reduced to a trickle now...I'd guess more than 80% of the cellphones sold locally in Bangladesh are made locally. Symphony and Walton having major shares of that sector.

So - this is now your aukaat - comparing numbers with an economy a seventh of your superpower size.... and then cherry-picked selective ones at that.

Pathetic...

Go check Wiki before posting numbers in every thread.

Bangladesh is still ahead of India in 2022 per IMF GDP per capita nominal.

Bangladesh has $2362 per capita compared to India's $2342 per capita. These are the latest 2022 IMF numbers.

The gap will keep on increasing I guess.

Honestly I don't care about these hair splitting exercises - but just to refute the Pujari Modi - "Achhey Din" Garbage. Modi essentially ruined Indian economy which fell behind. Bangladesh did not do much except carry on.

BTW Walton is slowly venturing into the HVAC solutions space offering VRF and chillers for air conditioning needs in residential, commercial and industrial buildings because they produce higher grade scroll compressors now. They now have offerings in common mid-grade tonnage sizes for large buildings.

Coming soon to an Indian dealer near you Sanghis. Perfect for scammer HQ's in all Indian IT parks. :p:

If we had 3-5 companies as serious as Walton that would be something to brag about. Inshallal this will happen.

I personally feel uneasy boasting about Walton all the time, look at what happened to western marine.

We hardly get any news about the ship building orders any more.

the big issue with companies in India, Pakistan is that they are dynastic ... not under professional CEOs. sooner or latter they fall part.

Western Marine is not closed -ships are still being fabricated there for local orders - ditto with other Bangladeshi yards. Things have slowed a bit - admittedly. They are busy right now building bollard pull tug vessels named Kandari series for the Chittagong Port Authority.

Karnafuly in Chittagong for example is building new Drydocks and slipways. They would not - if no orders were forthcoming.

Local conglomerates like MGI are ordering ships which are way beyond local shipbuilder capabilities who mainly build coasters under 10,000 DWT.

At some point local yards will expand and can build these 66,000 ton shallow draft "Neo66BC" (Neo Supramax) Japanese design bulkers appropriate for docking in Chittagong which local conglomerates want and are currently ordering from Chinese yards.

This is one of the reasons for lack of orders in local yards. Same story with other conglomerates like Bashundhara.

Here is more information on the low draft Neo66BC Japanese Ultramax bulker designs which are perfect for approaching our low draft ports.

The shipping minister (I have some choice names for that idiot, can't be used during Ramadan) is an Indian agent and completely blocking any request for tariff support for the shipbuilding sector. Looks completely like a Hindutva idiot sans forehead dot - but has a Muslim Name (Khalid Mahmud Chaudhry). The chetona idiot on the far right with the shawl wrapped on his shoulders Indian style. This moron should be fired posthaste for ruining our shipbuilding industry and any prospects thereof.

This was part of Modi's plan to destroy Bangladeshi ship building by installing this idiot as overseer.

Five years ago all kinds of Indian defence people were visiting Western Marine, we kind of knew what was forthcoming.

Global Shipbuilding business orders come in waves and right now is not the time. For example Indian shipbuilders aren't doing that great either AFAIK.

$11 million in exports. Lol. Doesn't matter number of pretty pictures you post here, you are fooling yourself. Post me the numbers.

Any low to mid sized company can make this much sales in India. We have thousands of them. Even our trash bag companies makes more than this.

Walton logs record Tk 127cr sales in March
