If Iran can play diplomatically well and get ride of sanctions than her natural & human resources are enough to surpass many oil rich countries within short time but that need drastic changes in local & international level policies. Money of Iranians and other will flow-in automatically when there are safe opportunities to invest.

Iranians are together with the Chinese the most educated immigrant group here in Holland, and in the rest of the world, and Iran could benefit a lot of all this money and knowledge if they would appreciated our existence. But unfortunately the Iranian regime is more worrying about their life expectancy, which would be questioned by a large group of modern and secular-minded Iranians, so I don't see things changing the coming years. Hundred of thousands of Iranians are waiting to come home.

I'm moving in February. I will be working in non-destructive testing. If I get a job in Northern Alberta I'll make at the very least 100K a year. If I work in Calgary or Edmonton the wages will be lower.

While I have many problems with current establishment too,but I appreciate it for somethings they did.
One of them is turning Iran's population from an illiterate one to an almost fully educated modern society,by giving chances of free education to all people.In Shah's time,I think only 50% of population were literate,but now,it's more than 93% and will reach 100% in coming years.
As you may know,many Iranians now have some kind of obsession in academic and graduate studies in university.That's why we have so much university students.

They don't like to be seen in the world as backward terrorists, or seeing their government spending money in Lebanon or Gaza, while millions of Iranians have difficulties to earn a living. I know you prefer probably previous Shah but you know that in terms of economy this regime did better until very recently look from 1960 onwards economy after 1980 there was times with very high growth ( obviously in war it was slow) .
