ECP notifies 93 returned MPAs as PTI lawmakers​

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday notified 93 returned MPAs in three provinces as PTI lawmakers in pursuance of the July 12 Supreme Court order in the reserved seats case.

In a unique majority verdict, the Supreme Court on July 12 declared the PTI eligible to receive reserved seats for women and non-Muslims in the national and provincial assemblies, giving it a new lease on life in the legislature by declaring it to be a parliamentary party.

Despite an 8-5 split, all 13 judges declared the PTI a parliamentary party.

The majority judgement explained that 39 out of the 80 MNAs, shown by the ECP as PTI candidates, belonged to the party.

ECP had then decided to implement the majority decision and return 39 seats in the National Assembly to PTI. It said that the rest of the 41 seats had not declared prior to the elections that they belonged to any party and were to be regarded as independent candidates

PTI had also submitted a list of its MPAs for the reserved seats in the three provinces last week but had not disclosed their names.

According to a notification issued by the ECP today, 29 seats in the Punjab Assembly, six seats in the Sindh Assembly and 58 seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly were given to PTI in pursuance of the July 12 Supreme Court order.

Jemima reveals blocking emails from Pakistan due to ‘harassment’​

LONDON: Jemima Goldsmith, the former spouse of PTI founder Imran Khan, has revealed that she had to block emails from Pakistan due to alleged cyber harassment.

Ms Goldsmith posted a statement on her Instagram and X accounts on Friday blaming opponents of her ex-husband’s party, PTI, for the alleged “cyber harassment operation”.

“To friends in Pakistan legitimately trying to contact me - I have had to block all emails from Pakistan thanks to a cyber harassment operation against me, no doubt instigated by PTI’s desperate opponents,” Ms Goldsmith said in a post on her X account.

PTI political committee announces protest at D-Chowk on October 15​

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political committee has once again announced plans to hold a protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 15.

According to Express News, the emergency meeting of PTI’s political committee took place without the participation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Following the meeting, PTI Secretary of Information Sheikh Waqas Akram issued a statement confirming that a large-scale protest will be held at D-Chowk on October 15.

He further stated that all organisational heads, from the central committee to the regional level, have been instructed to prepare for the demonstration.

In light of preparations for the peaceful protest at D-Chowk, the party has cancelled the planned protests across Punjab, which will be rescheduled.

The PTI political committee emphasised that the "illegitimate rulers," who they accused of stealing the people's mandate and disregarding the Constitution and law, remain unwilling to cease their oppression.

The committee also claimed that PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, is being subjected to a new wave of brutality.

The statement further stated that Imran Khan's life, health, and safety are being deliberately endangered as all of his fundamental and human rights have been revoked.

Police recover Imran Khan's lawyer Intizar Panjutha in Attock​

Intizar Hussain Panjutha, a lawyer for Imran Khan, the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was recovered by police in Attock.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Ghyas Gul stated that law enforcement set up a checkpoint and stopped a suspicious vehicle in the Hassan Abdal police jurisdiction.

When the vehicle was halted, the suspects opened fire, prompting a police response. The attackers then abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Upon inspection, officers found Panjutha inside the vehicle with his legs tied. He was taken to the police station, where he provided a statement, revealing that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of two crore rupees from his family.

Authorities have initiated a search operation to find the suspects who escaped and are pursuing further legal actions concerning the case.

Earlier on Friday, Pakistan's Attorney General informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Panjutha, a significant figure in PTI, was expected to be recovered within 24 hours.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq remarked that if Panjutha was not found by Saturday, the Attorney General would be summoned for further proceedings.

The petitioner's attorney, Faisal Chaudhry, expressed cautious optimism about Panjutha's safe return.

Panjutha’s disappearance earlier in October had led to a legal petition in the Islamabad High Court, where his colleagues had pushe for immediate action.

The court had routinely demanded updates on the progress of the investigation.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai clarified that the civil disobedience movement initiated by the party remains active, pending a decision from former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Express News reported.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Yousafzai stated, “The civil disobedience call has not been withdrawn. A final decision will depend on the seriousness of the government’s committee.”

JIT summons 16 PTI leaders on 18th​

A JIT formed last year to investigate a smear campaign against state institutions on social media has once again summoned sixteen PTI leaders.

According to a notification issued on March 15 by the office of the Islamabad IGP there is sufficient material available with the JIT to assume that the PTI leaders are involved or closely acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the matter in issue before JIT.

"Therefore, you are directed to appear in person before the JIT on 18.03.2025 at 12:00 pm at the Conference Room Central Police Office, Police Line Headquarters, Sector H-11 Islamabad and explain your position in this regard.

"You are also directed to bring your original CNIC and other evidence or information or documents, if any, in your support. In case of non-appearance, it will be assumed that you have nothing to present or state in your defense," said the notice.

The PML-N led federal government vide a notification dated September 8, 2024 constituted the JIT in terms of Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 under the convener-ship of the Islamabad IGP.

The JIT is investigating the matter to determine the organized objectives of the accused and their accomplices who allegedly created chaos and disorder in Pakistan through a malicious social media campaign.

PTI submits resolution in NA against Indus canals project​

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday submitted a resolution to the National Assembly opposing the construction of new canals from the Indus River under the Green Pakistan Initiative, citing serious concerns from Sindh.

The resolution was submitted by Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan and signed by party leaders Zartaj Gul, Ali Muhammad Khan, and Mujahid Khan.

The resolution demanded an immediate suspension of the Cholistan canals project until the concerns raised by Sindh are addressed through constitutional mechanisms.

The party called for an emergency meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) within 15 days to ensure inclusive consultation among provinces.
