Invasion of India: Doc

I repeat his religion is irrelevant, he comes from my region - so he belongs to my people, I am a direct descendant of one of his cavalry commanders. He is the quintessential Jhelumni. :pakistan:

Not indian history, it happened on my land, so it is Pakistani history.
Who cares?? He was the part of the larger "Hindustan" as we call it............that gradually transformed into secular "India"
And aren't your countrymen always claiming their heritage from Persian and arabic Kingdoms??

.
You don't know me and India has a lot of diversity.

Porus would never sell out. ;)

He would be with his people, of his region - not a Tamil that he has nothing in common with, especially linguistically.

.
Come on dude.....do you seriously believe that he gifted it??
No , he was forced, cause all of his soldiers , after so many years of fighting , wanted to head back to Greece......
And without his armies support, he could not have ruled and held sway over the kingdom anyway........
so he left Selecus Nicator as it's overlord instead.....

I understand the retreat part. His soldiers might have him.
But what I don't understand is why should Alexander gift something he has won and as you say, If Alexander did not gifted the Kingdom he won, then how come Porus retained his Kingdom

.
so why cant u just say it? admit that you have descended from hindus.

Religion is irrelevant - he is from my area, and he belongs to us, not some indian in some far off land. :pakistan:

Yes some of our people are from Persian Arab descent, and others like me, have been present on this land for thousands of years. No such thing as larger hindustan.

As hindus!!
no muslim on the subcontinent who can claim being on the subcontinent for thousands of years as one...
So, yes there was a larger "Hindustan" from much before Islam was thought of.....

P.S. Islam is just one thousand year old, not thousands.....

There might have been infighting among various kingdoms that were present in historic India, but to outsiders India was always one entity. This can be seen in various writing from 500 BC onwards. The name 'Hidush' was the first to appear around 500BC in ancient text by Persians, later 'India' and 'Indca' were coined by Greeks. Hence you can only find 'history of ancient India' and no 'history of ancient Pakistan', because there is no such thing as Pakistan before 1947.

If you problem with this version of history, you should put forth your ideas to The International Association of Historians of Asia, then to members of PDF. Arguing with us will not change the history or the facts.

The result of the battle of Hydaspes sound shady to me. How come Porus loose the battle and retain his Kingdom? ( It is bull$hit, if someone argues that Alexander returned Porus the Kingdom after seeing Porus bravery.). Battle of Hydaspes was a certain defeat for Alexander, and hence he could not proceed further into mainland India and had to return back.

I agree, the truth is Porus won the battle and Alexander died on the retreat. But then later western historians, distorted facts in an attempt to glory Alexander.. It's just laughable to think that Alexander won the battle, Porus retained the kingdom and then Alexander is not able to move forward and on the return journey dies of Malaria.. What a cool story!!

Puru was the great Indian Hindu King, nobody should have any doubt on it!! For Muslims, MBQ is your super hero so don't identify yourself with something that you are not...

The reason why Alexander doesn't proceed futher, as stated, is that the Nanda empire and the Gangaridai kingdom muster an enormous army of about a third of million infantry and massive cavalry and war elephants. Alexander's soldiers numbering in a dozen or two ten thousands knew what lay before them was certain suicide and were prepared to mutiny if Alexander did not turn back.

This could explain the retreat part, but why should he gift a Kingdom he won to someone he fought against.

Indians trying to act like Porus was their father. lol

.

This is the entire documentary and worth watching. A lot of local stories about Alexander and his expedition.

dude. contributions made by tamils are far greater than that made by the whole of todays pakistan, through history.

think twice before insulting them

Who's insulting them, but they have nothing to do with my country, my race and my land. I have nothing against them, but when a Tamil starts claiming my forefathers achievements as his own. I have a problem with that.
