Egyptians complain over Netflix depiction of Cleopatra as black

Basically some African Americans are doing to Egyptian history what Hindutva Indian nationalists do to history of neighbouring countries. Claim others history and present it as their own. My understanding is the Egyptians are not annoyed at a black character playing Cleopatra. They are annoyed at a group of nationalist African Americans presenting Egyptian history through an angle which furthers an AA agenda.

Colonization ≠ changing the genetic pool of the locals. The Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Persians, Brits, Turks were always the ruling class. When they conquer/invade Egypt, the locals don't mix with them.
Europeans colonized Sub Saharan African countries, but sub saharan africans didn't become more whiter. Did Pakistanis Indians became more white when the Brits colonized South Asia? The answer is no. Same thing with Egypt

'Caucasian' is not the same as 'white' and don't get too defensive about using terms which describe people! The number one determinant of 'races' is that when two distinct races mix with each other--like the east Asians or the Africans or the Caucasians (in which I include northwest Indians along with Pakistanis) then their offsprings would show where they came from. A child born between Caucasians would easily be recognized as a Caucascian. However, between Caucasians and Africans or between the east Asians and Caucasicans etc would look different and probably going into grandkids!

I don't know why you guys have such a short fuse?? It is not about trying to 'fit in'. It stating what's in our 'genome' for the millennia! This thread is about 'races' and so it was apt to point out to someone why Jinnah could be easily portrayed by Christopher Lee. Would Denzel Washington play Jinnah? Would Xi Ji Pin play Jinnah? No! Thats a straight up lie and not genomics at all. Genomics is about DNA and if you know anything about DNA it does not have names like caucasian/east asian etc. Each individual and area has their own unique DNA, trying to classify and cherry pick yourself in the group of Europeans is kind of an inferiority complex at work here. Why don't you categories yourself as African? I am sure you can make an equal or more compelling case for that base on skin color and geography too.

before you classify urself as a particular group, think if that group accepts u or not then decide. e.g. go up to white people and tell them ur caucasian and u will get ur answer.
