India is a hindu majoritarian state as such they'll have a greater say in adminsitration. Only when you sync in that fact, do you realise the nature of politics in the country. Its the same in any country with any religious majority. Its just fate and minorities just have to live with it. I am being honest here. Don't diss me for this.

Than why this 'India is secular as per constitution' hogwash...throw this down the Ganges and celebrate 'India the Hindu Rashtra' the much dreamt ideologue...everyone will be happy, minorities will get the message loud and clear.

That's what I am thinking for months - a religious country can't be both democratic and secular, either the government should be atheistic dictatorship or it will become non-secular eventually.

Maybe it was the fate of Muslims who were minority in their states. It had to happen eventually.

It could be secular with in the ambit of the majoritarian religion. But it won't give in to minority rights if they are antogonistic to majoritarian belief. And Muslims should know that better given how the muslim majority countries are around the world. That is the reason why majority of the world doesn't emphathise with muslims plights.

Its better for Indian muslims to accept that reality and improve their life with in the sphere they are allowed to grow and avoid religious fights. They are no position to win and would just be waste of precious life.

FO dude, Indian Muslims are not responsible for something thousands of kilometres away and EU and US are giving Muslims their rights. Even ex-soviet Muslims states are more secular than India.

Its better for Indian muslims to accept that reality and improve their life with in the sphere they are allowed to grow and avoid religious fights.

Like @humbl. said Indian constitution allows for hindu values. Even the word 'secular' was added in 1976 and not 1947. India is way better for muslim minorities as long as they understand their limitations. It is their country as long as the majority wants them to be.

Its better if Pakistan and other islamic countries whose hearts bleed for fellow muslims offer some sort of residence so they could join you in your pleasurable life. That would be a tight slap on the face to India

That is true in a literal sense but tell me, why should the majority object to "Secular and Socialist republic" ?? I am asking for such a system not only for myself but for the religious majority too. There are problems that every community faces... things like farmer suicides, student suicides and honor killing. I only want India to be a Progressive society.

Indian muslims are not responsible for what happens in other countries, of course. My point was to the other countries who are alleging discrimination to look into their own countries before they could lecture India.

Indian secular constitution serves a purpose to show moral superiority over Pakistan. It worked so far, but the current political establishment has lost the plot. Given the conviction behind the ostentatious struggle for religious supremacy these days, it will take a miracle to go back. However, I do not think that the hardline image will affect India’s status on world stage by a large margin.

Atheist dictatorships will also have to be partial to the majority faith in the country. After all, a king has to protect the keys to his castle. While you pity the fate of Muslims in non Muslims states, spare a thought for non Muslims in Islamic countries. The fates will not look so out of balance anymore.

No progressive person would object to it. I won't even mind if Muslims want to eat beef. Why would I bother my time for their eating habits. As long as one is working for glory of India, even sangh wouldn't object to it.

I have written it elsewhere, re-posting here...for Muslims it is like damned if you do, damned if you don't.


This is the main problem and Indian Muslims cannot decipher it, seems as though. The more they adhere to being the 'difference' in India with a different culture, traditions, food, own language, own Muslim customs and above all the religion, the more otherised they become...

It is kind of double edged, the more Indian Muslims starts owing Hindustan, calling it their own country with a Millennium of history of Mughals, from Biryani to Sherwani, from Urdu to Ghazals, from owning Tehzeeb to celebrating Eids, from donning Kameez to Ghararas and loving/caring/owning all the Tehzeeb of Muslim Millennium of Hindustan, and this cultural superiority/traditional difference is the thing why Hindu hatred is showing in full light.

If Muslims of India stops doing, donning, celebrating, owning and relishing all the things mentioned above that make them(Muslims) appear different, and starts living as marginalized and at the fringe, ghettoized second class citizens, like Dalits, Hindus have no qualms about it. It is their owning of India which bothers them.

The reason Hindus will still show hatred to Indian Muslims who shows their complete loyalty to India, which they have to prove time and over again, this is a double jeopardy for them. And Indian Muslims don't understand and realise it...it is not about owning India it is about disowning the Muslim Millenia and India(you are just tenants kind of thought)...this is what I realized and gathered.
