I think Taiwan should accept one country two systems.

That is the best compromise.

I don't think Taiwan should just accept. It should negotiate a version that works better for it. For example, it should ask to retain the military. It should ask freedom of extending its own parties into the mainland. It should ask a certain number of seats in China's people's parliament filled with its elected representatives. There are a lot to ask during the negotiation. But since they have no intention to be united with the mainland, they would eventually face the show-down.

If the Ukraine-Russia conflict should teach them anything, there would be one lesson that stands up. That is: DO NOT INVADE WITH A SOFT HEART! If PLA tries to take Taiwan, I would expect it to bomb the heck out of it. Not just military targets, but also major roads, railways, airports of all sizes, power plants, fuel depots, communication stations, etc, etc. Undersea cables would be cut, too.

The current Ukraine-Russia conflict is just weird. The trains are still running.

The land. Why do people keep on asking this? A land without people is often more attractive than a land filled with people that are against you. One of many reasons why US chose not to annex Mexico even after they had taken it.

Well even if the goal is merely the land then bombing hell out of it and destruction of everything would give you but scorched earth that doesn't make sense .. and what would happen to those people that are against you? displaced?

The argument 'the land' was a stupid one.

Let us say you have one hectare of bare land. You would be able to develop that area of land quickly. On the other hand, if there were something else like a building on it , you must raze the building and rehabilitate the soil before you can do anything else, and that would double or triple the time.

it really depends how China does it and how determined it is to take the Island. It could just blitz the country into submission by concentrated cruise and ballistic missile fire or just have Taiwan destroyed in a direct war with Taiwan and a US proxy war in Taiwan. An economic blockade wouldn't be hard to achieve either by threats to international freight shipping and the consequential collapse of the Taiwanese economy. We could then see Western sanctions and grabbing of Chinese assets similar to what has happened against Russia. There would then be a regional anti-Chinese flurry as smaller countries panic into the Western sphere of influence and gang up against China . Depending on the regional reaction it would determine whether a wider regional war is ignited.

According to China's anti sanctions law. If Western countries sanction China's overseas assets, China will confiscate all western investment & factories & Patents in China. China has more than 70% of the world's factories. Once China turns the factories of apple, Tesla and other companies into state-owned enterprises, it means that the West will cut off almost all goods supply. Western currencies will not buy anything. The modern industrial system is complex and huge, and China is the only country in the world with a complete industrial chain. It will take more than 100 years for western countries to rebuild their industrial chain. Those small countries will not abandon China that can provide goods. They will abandon western countries that can provide nothing.

We can agree. However, the referendum must be voted by all Chinese to choose the ruling party of the whole country, not Taiwan Province alone.

I guess you are not familiar with the concept of immigration. The majority of the current population in Taiwan was largely a result of some previous immigration, too.

No. China is not a democratic country. It is not bound by democratic principles.
