What's new

GDP per capita of every district in South Asia

.
India did absolutely nothing till 1991 other than increase population...since then it has grown moderately okay till the 2008 Global Economic Crisis......then there was 6 years of pure stagnation......I could see with my own eyes every time I used to go back to India that growth have come down to almost zero post-2008.....from 2014 onwards India had the good fortune of decisive leadership under Modi..........If he can stay in Office for 15 years, he might leave India at $6,000---$8,000 gdp per capita (nominal).....No where near developed countries(starts at 20,000 dollars GDP per capita nominal), but way better than pre-2014

Let see.. I can only wish you luck..

.
This map has many flaws. Why Kerala districts are shedded light yellow despite one of the highest per capita income in India? And many central Indian districts are shedded dark, although they are the backward tribal areas.Rajsthan is a part of BIMARU states, but it was shedded mostly dark.
Probably they have taken into account of jobs only from India
Main money source for kerala is from abroad

OK.. So Pakistan asked Russia to occupy Afghanistan.. This is the new information I have received today.. Thanks for updating me..

You did not have to arm the Muhajdeen, Taliban and Haqqani group
Plus your elite and generals were well compensated for their services
take your crib elsewhere

that would be a bit far fetched....even with 8 percent per annum growth, we would be at $5,000 per capita (nominal) at 2029...India was a big F*** up since Independence, pumping out one billion extra human beings who have no business existing......One Modi cannot change everything, even if you give him 15 years

We are growing at a normal rate though faster than any.

China model is not applicable for every country.

I was comparing India and Pakistan only.. The way Pakistan has been surviving against the effects of Afghan war from 1980 till now, and still has 241 USD difference in the nominal GDP pc with India.. I expected the difference to be much more than that..

Anyway, it's how you look at it.. If you are satisfied with the current figures of your country despite being in the favorable position, it's fine.. I am fine with my country's performance under the conditions we have been facing for the last 3 decades.

We didn't until the country went into a civil war that was again hurting Pakistan directly or indirectly..

A war that's brought up on yourself by your own policies. While you could've stayed away after the soviets left, yet you chose to play along for the only interest using them as a tool for your interest. You were allocated billions of dollars (that too before 2008 when the value was so high). You could've used these funds to your advantage, and be like Singapore being strategically placed next to two large economies in the world and central Asian countries. Sitting on a busy international shipping route. You didn't and couldn't do that because of few armchair generals. and other obvious reasons. Meanwhile India being a socialist nation (before 1990 in soviet style) there was not much development or foreign funding.

I'm satisfied with the current state of Indian economy. There is nothing supernatural about our growth. And we are fairing quite well. I'm not expecting a three fold rise in our economy in 5 years.
If you are satisfied with your country, then there is no dispute here.

I had a quick look at this. What I am going to say is not going to make any differance in the real world. Mud sticks. And it has stuck to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan like ticks stick to shite. At the perceptive level things will get worse for Pakistan. Meaning the world will think Pakistan is even more crapper then they think now and stuff like this map will keep doing more damage. Punch by punch.

Okay the guy who posted it Turkish. The map was prepared by using light emission as a guide to GDP productivity. This is where satellite imagery is taken and then a economic model is created from that which shows GDP.

There is enough evidence out there that shows this is a very good method of calculating real GDP in particular areas where paper documentation is weak like South Asia. All the previous light emissions models I saw showed Pakistan was doing better than the figures at World Bank. This report from 2015 shows quite the opposite. In face it has most of Pakistan as in utter poverty and not much differant than Afghanistan whereas across the border in Rajasthan it is land of milk and honey.

So what is going on? Simple. What has Pakistan being afflicted since 2012 over 2017? Massive electricity cut outs and loadshedding, Result you get this map which is using the electricity cut outs in Pakistan as referance guide.

But you think that is going to make any diffearance? No. The damage is done. This is satellite imagery they used. It is clear Pakistan is in "loadshedding mode". The date is 2015.

downloaded it..........thank you for pinpointing the source of the map

That's true. Kerala's highest source of income is foreign remittance. Kerala governments income includes (apart from tax) Tourism, Liquor and he forgot to mention lottery sales.

Kerala has no high end manufacturing industries, there are many IT parks in the state. It is densely populated that makes it difficult to have much manufacturing facilities.
Whatever the sources may be, but it is a common fact that Kerala has better per capita income than Rajsthan, which this map shows the opposite. In 2014, Kerala had per capita GDP 2271 dollar vs Rajasthan's 1443 dollar. If you take into account of Kerala's remittance, than it will only widen the gap in favor of Kerala. This map showed Rajastan and central Indian tribal belt to be one the most prosperous in South Asia which is not true.

But changed economic policies can I believe.
The moment our reliance on oil goes down due to electric vehicles I think it will completely change the way of economics.

What's your view on this

The map is flawed , dear .

I don't think the map is flawed since correct in my state as Kerala holds two district in 'red' where two beautiful cities lyes and so higher per capita compared other districts. Please note that kerala population density is higher than other Indian states and so yellow color. Moreover kerala is also having higher gold assets(Immovable assets) and i can tell you that every upper middle class family holds more than 1 Kg of Gold. The land cost is also much much higher than any other states and so the major portion of ones income goes to Land as investment. The labour charge for a labour cost Rs 1000 per day, equivalent to Rs 1600 pakistani rupees.

.
On December 2014, the total NRI deposits in Kerala banks were Rs 1.05 lakh crore which increased to Rs 1.48 lakh crore(Around 22 billion dollars) in December 2016, according to data collected by the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC). A year ago, the figure stood at Rs 1.28 lakh crore.

Kerala bank deposits in a year from NRI's equivalent to total remittance figure of pakistan in a year.
