What's new

Taiwan tops South Korea in 2022 GDP per capita 1st time in nearly 2 decades

I've already told you it's the sales champion, but are you still saying it's limited to 300 units?

Any car in Taiwan is very expensive, with Model 3 priced at $28000 in China and $60000 in Taiwan.
Dude, most car now are made to order....You order a Tesla 3 today you don't drive it out of the dealership today.

TOYOTA總代理和泰汽車於5月17日舉辦bZ4X上市發表會。在和泰汽車積極爭取下,bZ4X幾乎與日本同步上市,首波導入單馬達前驅車型,售價159.9萬年度配額僅300台
The price range of the bZ4X you mentioned (selling for 1.59 mil NTD) is for special order, and only 300 are sold a year, I don't know if Taiwan have normal range for sale or how much, I don't have time to go deep on the net and find them, but they are most likely cheaper than 1.5 mil NTD or 50,000 USD you mentioned..

I hope you have at least honesty.

Well, I am not the one that compare a special edition of a car that only made 300 a year to a normal cheapest range of the same car........

Talk about honesty........

BZ4X is the sales champion of new energy vehicles in Taiwan. You told me that it is limited to 300 units. Do you think you're right?

Dude, there are SEVERAL VERSION of BZ4X in Taiwan, just like it was in China (again FWD non-EXRange, FWD-ExRange and 4WD ExRange)

I didn't go look but there are almsot certainly more than 1 version of the 7 BZ4X are on sale in Taiwan. I am not talking about the entire range, I am talking about your post
The Toyota Bz4x sold for $53000 in Taiwan, just surpassing the Tesla Model 3 to become the new energy vehicle sales champion.

The same car sells for $21000 in China, but it cannot even enter the top 20 in sales.

Especially, this line - The Toyota Bz4x sold for $53000 in Taiwan
The only version that sold for $53000 is the special ordered version that only made 300 a year. That is selling for 1,590,000 NTD as per my reference.

And this line - The same car sells for $21000

Is for the cheapest version of BR4X you have in China.

It's not even an extended 600km version of the car.

And it's not 21000, it's 28000 byw

You are comparing the cheapest range of the same car in China to the special order special edition of the same car in Taiwan. With the $21000 v $50,000 comparsion

You should compare the selling price for the same model, not just the same car, and you need to look up the Taiwanese Sales price of the front wheel drive, non-extended range version of BZ4X. Not the one that only made 300 a year.

The confirmation I mentioned is the lowest configuration price.

You can google for a quote on the Toyota China official website, with a minimum configuration price of 169800 CNY ($24600). The extended range version you mentioned is 189800 CNY ($27400). This price is still far lower than its selling price in Taiwan.

BTW: I'm sorry that the $21000 I mentioned earlier was incorrect. I forgot about the significant appreciation of CNY this year

Calculate the ratio of Taiwan's government revenue to Taiwan's GDP. It is easy to know that Taiwan's GDP is actually GNP, or at least three times exaggerated. By comparing their data with the ratio of government revenue to GDP in countries such as Germany and the USA, you can see how absurd Taiwan's data is.

. . .
In 2021, Taiwan's fiscal revenue was NT $2.3 trillion and GDP was NT $21.7064 trillion. In 2021, Taiwan's fiscal revenue accounted for 10.6% of GDP.

In 2021, the US fiscal revenue accounted for 31.7% of GDP;

In 2021, Germany's fiscal revenue accounted for 47.8% of GDP;

In 2021, France's fiscal revenue accounted for 52.8% of GDP;

If Taiwan's GDP is not GNP, please explain why Taiwan is so unique?

This is an entirely different car........

This is a BZ3, a Electric Sedan, not a BZ4X, an SUV...

This is BZ4X price in CHina

I said you quote the price of the wrong car, your reference of extended range version (as quote above) is for BZ3
The extended range version you mentioned is 189800 CNY ($27400). This price is still far lower than its selling price in Taiwan.

This is the price for Bz4x

BZ4X.jpg

It's started at 230,000 (well, round up the 200 RMB) and the Pro version (whatever that mean) is 250,000 RMB. Not 189000 you mentioned.

.
It's really weird that they have such a high GDP per capita, and yet their new university grad is basically paid around 30000 to 35000 TWD (~1k USD) a month. That rate hasn't really moved in close to 2 decades.

Include the revenue of overseas enterprises in GDP, which means that GDP is actually GNP.

Only in this way can we explain why Taiwanese companies offer low salaries, and low govt revenue.

Lol, you copy and paste your information from Zhihu?

Different countries have different pension systems and classifications of tax.

Eg; In your figures you include local government taxes for the US but exclude them for Taiwan figures. If you apply the same standards, the US federal tax revenue revenue is only ~20%.

Taiwan (central government):

US (federal):

And as you can see from their government website, Taiwan does not include social security contributions into their tax revenue. It's the same for Singapore; we don't include CPF annual contributions, which is around 7% of our GDP, into our tax revenue. That's why Taiwan's and Singapore's tax revenue as a percentage of GDP looks artificially low.

But the US does include:
