Erieye escort options for Pakistan Air Force

nothing as you mentioed in your post, is near to "raptor", which is twin engine devil, JAS-39 C/D NG, Saab 5th generation ,F-35! were good projects but nearest thing to raptor is chinese, jxx or rusian, PAKFA, who both are twin engine projects.;)

Hello everyone. I have joined this forum 2 minutes ago.

First of all I am not a military person but, like all of you, I am looking to contribute and do (whatever possible) is best for Pakistan.

I have reading a lot (especially) since the (so called) Mumbai attacks!!!!

My question may not be directly related to this thread, but, have any of us ever considered that what role ("our friend") US and the Israel will play in an event of our conflict with India ???? This question worries me a lot.

I think that US and Israel will do their best to give india the exact details of Pakistan troops deployment and reconnaissance + radar jamming.

Any thoughts how to counter this CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER !!!

However, for argument sake, will it (the reconnaissance, troop deployment and radar jamming) not be better if done via the SATELLITE ROUTE rather than SU-30MKI.

In this way US can also give precise information about our missile locations (and how to hit them) and other strategic targets.

Even locating the Erieye and AWACS will not be difficult and once located they can be targeted via the BVR missiles.

Sorry for being so pessimistic.

It is not as easy as it seems to hit an AWAC...It had a very powerful jamming suite and the aircraft must cross the international boundary...there will be air defence system and atleast has to face a squadron of aircraft before it fires the missile. The best way to bring down an AWAC is guns and you have to get close for that.

If you are not a millitary person---then before posting anything---read through the forums to get a fair idea of what is being discussed. You will have all your answers. All your questions have been discussed in detail in the last few days.

Missiles aren't placed in the open for satellites to see. They are tactically deployed and constantly shifted especially during wartime. Also there are lots of decoys and most of our missiles are road mobile so shifting them is no problem. Also, where there are large and sensitive areas, there is also adequate defense.

And AWACS are not something that are stationary in the air that you can pin-point its exact location and fire. By the time you give its coordinates to ground forces and they fire, and the time required to reach the awacs, it would be many many miles away. Also they have powerful jamming devices and are located well inside the country. And as mentioned, there are some of the best planes that are protecting it for anyone to come close enough.

I think atleast one Erieye should be based in Shahbaz Airbase with new F-16 block 52+ and that should be escorted by the squdron.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but there is a lot of talk at the start of this thread regarding the "highly likely" KC-135 sale to PAF and this was back in 2009, what has happened on this front?

KC 135 ? Are you possibly referring to ZDK -03 AWACS ?

Nope the Boeing KC-135 'Flying Boom' Air-Refueller. That deal seems to a "no-no".

Yes, NO-NO, because we have bought Multi-purpose IL-78MP instead and we are happy with it.Also we are not increasing F-16 line any more. So it is useless to buy Tanker specially for 45 - 50 upgraded F-16AM/BM (excluding 18 Blk-52 that carries CFTS)

As long as towed decoy is flying along AEW aircrafts it will be all good.

I just dont understand when we made the deal with US for the mlu and for the new block f-16's why didnt PAF think or request for some tankers for the f-16's??

There were discussions on KC-130. In fact during Red Flag, the PAF pilots even practiced ATA refueling and PAF's crew got to experience the KC-130. Not sure what happened afterwards on acquisition. Probably $$?

If the F-16's number will not increase due to JFT and other Chinese acquisitions, then you should design / procure CFT's or use the under wing ones, custom designed. I think the Israelis created some for their use back in the days.
