this is what i said... i suggest you read it carefully...

but fact remains, europeans used a compass a very long time before you chinese have stated.

now what does that mean?? you seem to cut the sentence off at chinese.... what does the last few words mean? "have stated" .. it means has said, or declared etc true??? now... read the sentence again, this time dont stop at chinese, stop after "have stated" then put it in context... now dont try to lie and twist things around

fact is.. i said basically...europeans had and used a compass in the 11th - 12th century.... people like YOU are saying they didnt use it until colombus in the 15th century.... so obviously i said... YOUR CLAIM IS FULL OF CRAP..... europeans had and used a compass.. looooooooooong before YOU said so

my god..read what people say..

Dont worry about this guy, kkacer is just trolling, he is obviously not interested in a real discussion by his emotionally charged (and frankly juvenile) thread title and the way in which he's carried out insulting other forum members consistently. He also couldn't seem to be bothered to put in his other likewise 'controversially' named thread which easily covers this topic instead of cluttering the forum.

Well with that out of the way for those who might be interested...
The fact of the matter is that there is no consensus academically on whether the compass was passed along from China by the Silk road or some other means, or whether Europe created the compass independently. It is generally accepted that a south pointing compass type was mentioned earlier in China than a north pointing one in Europe, but not that the European compass derived from the Chinese one.

you concept is wrong, land compass and navigation compass. land compass invented by chinese is more than 1000 years early than europeans.

navigation compass invented by chinese is more than 600 years early than europeans

source? Wiki gives the first instances of navigation by compass between Europe and China roughly a 100 years difference.

The earliest reference to an iron fish-like compass in the Islamic world occurs in a Persian talebook from 1232. This fish shape was from a typical early Chinese design.

Chinese navigational compass (1117) to its first appearance in Europe (1190) and the common shape of the early compass as a magnetized needle floating in a bowl of water.[8]

Did you read the second link on the differences? Besides which this is about Europe, not the Islamic world, whose first mention of the compass is after Europes, and whose name is arguably derived from the italian name. This is an argument against diffusion.

Just because they came into being in relatively the same time period doesn't mean they are related... Agriculture was developed indendently in multiple parts of the world (and interestingly enough) during roughly the same time period. Some human challenges are universal, and so solutions are sought everywhere.

hang on.. you just said before that china has navigational compass was 600 years earlier then europeans

but now you paste this, that shows the compass is referenced in europe 73 years after china.... and it actually coincides with my earlier statements that europeans has it in the 11th or 12th century..

you chinese seem to come in here, try to argue the point.. and then prove me right and you wrong lol

unreal lol

Dude Arab traders crossed Arabian Sea and reached Kerala. Thats not Coastal navigation and all this happened in 8th, 9th centuries.

America was an accedental Discovery Christopher columbus wanted to find India. (May be he is using the cheap chinese made compass)
Going by your logic Indians invented number "Zero" with out it nothing will work i mean computers, software, Astronomy and all the things which involve calculations.
No India No world and no human technology.

Going by your logic India ia far superior in science and tech than any nation in the world.

This is the same kind of attitude that is making troubles in south China sea. There are many civilizations in the world who has rich culture and scientific advancements.
Typical Chinese mentality who stupidly think they are the centre of world civilization.

Not sure if it's the typical Chinese attitude, but it seems to be Kkacer's attitude.
