China was on par with Western Europe until 1500's. After Zheng He's voyages were canceled and Europeans discovered America, the tide started shifting. By 1800, just before the Opium War, China was roughly 200 years behind already. But thanks to our great cultural power at the time (the height of Chinese cultural power was Kangxi / Qianlong era), we were very confident and didn't notice how behind we really were.

ok.. so lets say that is exactly how it was... i think everyone can conclude these following things from it.. and u cannot dispute it.

1- china was on par with west europe in the 1500s
2- europeans discovered america (actually the norse did a loooong time before anyone else - 10th century)
3- regardless who founded america, since it was actual people who discovered technologies, europeans would of become 200 years more advanced then china by the 1800s anyway.
4- just before the opium war, china was well behind america or europe
5-

just goes to show nothing at all has changed since then, your EGO is bigger then your whole population and country combined (think your soooo damn good and better then everyone else) and your all still stupid as horse **** (couldnt see how far superior the west was to china) even after Britain kicked ur **** during the opium wars, and they had real guns, real cannons. you guys had explosives not much more powerful then a confetti popper.

and your all still blinded just like back in those days, here you are thinking your better then everyone else, and you still think your either on par or superior to the west...

ohhh how history repeats...

no Compass invented by China, europeans couldn't arrive and discover america, so, no China, no Usa :china:

well chinese civillization as a whole is truly impressive no doubt. and chinese civillization did invent many technological advances, too many to count.

but what i find humorous is when a thirteen year old chinese boy goes to school and learns that the papaer, compass, gunpowder, etc came from China, he immediately goes home to post his findings in an obnoxious manner to "educate" the rest of us on something that we knew already.

but even funnier is that he acts as though HE invented all these things! The true inventor of gunpowder might be rolling in bis grave as he might be a citizen of a kingdom of ancient china that was conquered by the Han kingdom. and this kid might not even be born anywhere near where the compass came from.

but we all tend to project 21st century reality to people of antiquity.

i would just like to say one thing. if you put a flag of your country and start posting on the internet, you are essentially an ambassador of your country to the rest of us. if you happen to be an idiot and write idiotic things, we might wind up judging your country based on your idiotic rambling.

Chinese Football History

The Emperor of the Han Dynasty, when the game was developed, was an avid player and fan, and spread the popularity of this game all over China during his reign. This roughly dates back to 300 B.C., although there is controversy on the subject of dating, which could result in the origins of the game being as far back as 5000 B.C. Regardless, this version of Football is extremely old. Despite that, there is still a version of Tsu Chu played today.

On the other hand, soccer (football)—the most popular sport in England—was invented in China over two thousand years ago, during the Han Dynasty, when it was called “cuju” (or “kick ball”). According to FIFA: “The very earliest form of the game for which there is scientific evidence was an exercise from a military manual dating back to the second and third centuries BC in China.” The sport was refined during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and Song Dynasty (960-1279), when professional players would entertain the imperial court.

Actually, that's just half of the story. The Europeans didn't just get technology and knowledge only from China. They got it by travelling all over the world.

They gathered knowledge from every corner of earth, and evolved it into one holistic model. And that is what we are living today.

They weren't geniuses, and they certainly did not know everything. European scientists only worked hard. As they say, there is simply no substitute for hard work.

And yes, the Chinese were an extremely advanced civilization at one time. For that time period that is :D

(476 BC -221 BC). Cuju, literally means ball kicking, is an ancient Chinese game which is regarded as the origin of present-day football.

Cuju has a long history in China. Legend has that it was invented by the Yellow Emperor, the legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation. He then used it to train his soldiers. However, some believed that it first appeared during the Warring States Period (476-221 BC).

Chinese Football History

To many, this is the oldest version of football to exist. However, there is quite a lot of controversy of whether or not this is the oldest, or Japan's version is the elder. The likelihood is that as this version was much more organised it would of evolved from an older form of the game such as the Japanese version. The Chinese version of the game, originally named "Tsu Chu", involved players on a field that had to hit a leather ball stuffed with fur into a small hole. Like Football, no hands were permitted during the play of the game, and it was considered an honour to be a member of a team.

you showed your ignorance again...

The Ancient Greeks and Romans are known to have played many ball games, some of which involved the use of the feet. The Roman game harpastum is believed to have been adapted from a Greek team game known as "ἐπίσκυρος" (episkyros)[8][9] or "φαινίνδα" (phaininda),[10] which is mentioned by a Greek playwright, Antiphanes (388–311 BC) and later referred to by the Christian theologian Clement of Alexandria (c.150-c.215 AD). These games appear to have resembled rugby football.[11][12][13][14][15] The Roman politician Cicero (106–43 BC) describes the case of a man who was killed whilst having a shave when a ball was kicked into a barber's shop. Roman ball games already knew the air-filled ball, the follis.[16][17]

so..give and take 100+ years and you'll be near 600BC..

and Japanese also played this game since 500AD..

The Japanese version of cuju is kemari (蹴鞠), and was developed during the Asuka period.[citation needed]This is known to have been played within the Japanese imperial court in Kyoto from about 600 AD. In kemari several people stand in a circle and kick a ball to each other, trying not to let the ball drop to the ground (much like keepie uppie). The game appears to have died out sometime before the mid-19th century. It was revived in 1903 and is now played at a number of festivals.[citation needed]

The Asuka period (飛鳥時代 Asuka jidai?), was a period in the history of Japan lasting from 538 to 710
