China's Malacca dilemma: How India controls Indian Ocean chokepoints

Indigenous oil and mineral? The Japanese successfully blocked all supplies to China until the US got involved in WWII. They succeeded largely because Russia was afraid of imperial Japan. No China does not produce enough oil/gas or raw materials to supply its industry and military - not today and certainly not in 1942.
Look my Pajeet friend, we are in 2020. The China of 1942 is NOt China of 2020. You really need to get a grip if your going to use 1940s as referance.

A blockade of Malacca strait will not choke Chinese industry or war efforts entirely. It will increase the cost of acquiring supplies via alternate land or Pacific routes
The extra you mention would apply to all including India and we know which country has the economy to take that extra cost. If such a scenario played out and US was involved you can bet Russia would be involved by supporting China. It's simple strategic balance unless you think Russkies would allow a new order to emerge where USA with India establish a new hegemony.

Let me be frank with you. To even use the name India with China is gross distortion and insult to Chinese. It's like coupling a worn out, emaciated donkey with a racing horse. India can only bluster by tangling with smaller boys like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lankla and then masturbating over it's prowess. When faced with countries it's own size the Indian testicles retract faster then mine do when exposed to frozen ice. They go hiding !!!

The vast reserves of Russia, Kazak oil/gas, Central Asia and access to Pakistan are a alternative to Malacca.
Yeah right, I suppose they even have ultra large crude and container carrying trucks that can navigate the CPEC route.

As things stand today, the US already has more than enough, and they can commission more assets for it should the need arise, completely choke the Chinese trade and oil routes through the Suez and Persian gulf.

Trucks and pipelines are not going to cut it just yet, the tech just isn't there.

China would not go down just because of blockade, but it will definitely strangle or put pain on China and it's economy.

Trucks, trains and jets couldn't deliver the efficiency of cost as a container ship and tankers.

Fcukfest Russia and Central Asia are some of the worlds largest oil/gas reserves. Pipelines are being laid out to feed the Chinese beest.

And what would stop Chinese from deployed shore based missiles and fighters at Gwadar to toast any oil ship sailing from the narrow Hormuz to India?

Those pipelines are gonna be targeted by long range US stealth bombers.

And what do you think Straits of Hormuz will look like after recieving Chinese crosshairs from Gwadar? Nothing will pass that water other than a lonely jellyfish.

And soon after PLA advanced units will be having Chow Mein in New Delhi while admiring British built architecture.

The Russians don't fear the US as much as they fear China - fact. It's hard to predict what the Russians will do in the future.
The Russians are the most paranoid nation on earth.

Even small pathetic India can harm China, as you yourself proved a small insignificant Vietnam humbled the US in the past.
Its all about the strategic application of force and a battle of will in 1960's early 70's the Vietnamese were more determined.

India is not small. Yes small chestnuts but big in numbers. India will soon will have larger population then China. And india is no Vietnam. Like I said India can just about arm wrestle Pakistan and even then it needed Banglas to win in 1971.

No doubt Malacca is choke point but it’s not India that controls it, it’s the US and it’s allies which includes India. Let India try blockading China and then see what happens at the LAC and the rest of India. Indian Strategic thinking is very shallow, out dated and primarily shaped by its conflict with Pakistan.

How boring and typically to resort to name calling when you fail to win an argument. Has geography changed since 1942? Have continents shifted? The Himalayas shrunk?
The Chinese are cursed with strategic vulnerabilities as proved by history over and over again.

Actually a flotilla of ships blockading the Suez canal or the Red Sea could block the majority of shipping going towards Malacca strait or even Gwadar.
As if the rest of the world's trade wouldn't get affected. Wake up from your delusions.

China can bypass the Malaccas by laying a route through Myanmar. And of course the Western route of Gwadar. It can reach Europe overland via Central Asia as well. As long as CARs are away from Western influence, China doesn't have much to fear.

On the other hand, Europe is massively f**ked if the Suez Canal or the Bab el Mandel is blockaded.

If you go by that measure India is in trouble. It has been invaded and used as a door mat by every invader you care to name from A to whatever from the north-west.

Sure but not from the North or North east - I repeatedly stated that China can't win against India without access via Pakistan.
Via Pakistan, Delhi will fall in 10 days and then perhaps scorched earth - nuclear war.

If Indian navy tried the only thing that would happen is that India would no longer have a navy.

Their air defense destroyers have less range than nearly every single air launched anti-ship cruise missile in existence.

You are not going to do nothing .
In fact you cant do nothing.

We are not a blue water navy like US.But Indian Ocean is our turf .
Its all about how Chinese Navy can survive here

Who is going to block Suez Canal, why? China? Your arguments are all over the place, first you claim Pakistan is going to blockade the Strait of Hormuz from Gwadar? Really? and piss off Iran and your Arab friends?
Do you know how many bases the US has in the middle east? Do you believe Pakistan will permit a Chinese military base on Pakistani soil - lol? Never going to happen. Even today Chinese CPEC presence of 20,000 workers isn't well tolerated by Islamic fundamentalist in Pakistan, Chinese military presence will send that lot over the edge. Groups like TTP have listed attacks against non Islamic presence in Pakistan in their manifesto.
