CAS Mujahid Anwar: Whatever capabilities the IAF acquires, PAF will match it

CM-400AKG
But supersonic CM 400AKG has a ballistic trajectory and easy to intercept. Problem lies in detection and interception. Imagine a scenario where MKIs launch ALCM Brahmos and they hit our place having an importance. Since no capable air defense is there to intercept Supersonic ALCM from our side, they hit their targets and we plan the similar attack. We use RA'AD IIs on our Mirages/Thunders and within our boundary release the ALCM. IAF AWACs detects the ALCM and sends the signals to the air defense. Imagine the target is Mumbai or Dehli the air defense which includes NASAM II and S400 (as they would be gaurding important strategic locations) are alerted through AWAC and the ALCM is detected due to alertness and is intercept quickly. How is this not possible?

Things have changed since then, Sweden has sold us other military equipment so Gripens shouldnt be a problem. We should try and get full ToT out of it like they offered others in the past.

Gripen and block3 are almost in same league....

Under cover of S-400 ... Rafale will be able to fire Meteor to its full NEZ of 60 kms inside Pakistani territory that means around 50-60 kms will be no go zone for PAF from Indian Border... Rafale can stay safe under altitude of 3000 meters and in cover of S-400 linked by AWACS and send flurry of meteors ...
worrying scenario for any professional Military ... also India is buying around 150 Scalps in first batch itself pretty solid cruise missile itself.

27th Feb should have awaken you, seems it didnt.

Why Pakistan have inducted JFT-B so quickly?? It will also be Pakistan's version of USN EA-18 Growler.
There's zero indication of PAF using JF-17Bs as anything but training pilots for the platform, asap. All of this growler talk is just via online media. It's only about JF-17 Block III that we know will come with a brand new integrated EW suite.

Do think that Pakistan will eventually have to opt for new-gen stand off ground and airborne EW assets. Whether it's Koral or Havasoj or any of the multitude of chinese options, but EW will eventually decide future of these skirmish-type air wars b/w India and Pak.

Pakistan does field a lot of passive sigint capability to ID enemy aircrafts, but these solutions do not provide firing cues. The testing of JY-27A in Pakistan is extremely interesting in this regard, cos the radar apparently does provide firing cues as per Chinese papers.

All we know is that its supposedly a bigger upgrade from previous versions, but that does not necesarrily mean that in terms of armaments and avionics its now going to be in the same league as the gripen. Lets also not forget that the block 3 is also supposedly to be much larger and heavier too.

To me the Gripen also looks more manouverable in the air and has a better thrust/weight ratio, but im not a pilot.

If JY-27A is able to passively provide firing cues to 'Chinese missiles' against incoming aircrafts, than it's not that far out to assume that PAF would eventually opt for linking them with a Chinese LRSAM. It only makes sense.

This would give PAF a very interesting capability to passively ID and target enemy aircrafts, from ground and air. Should be very interesting to watch for next few months, so to what they opt to do.

I am very much expecting PAF to invest further in ground / air EW capability, as well as finally opting for a god-damn LRSAM.

Don't worry sir these low-lifes never catch a break, It's again the redux of Rodeo Pony aka Su-30MKI, remember those good old days when literally even a normal thread on Pakistan's GDP would end up with Indians gloating the range of Bars radar, in SU-30 and it's supermaneuverability disco moves . Recount the whole deal; the Raptor of the east, the seventh wonder of the world. Even in an obituary thread Indians wouldn't shy away from gloating an ode to the Goliath R-77 , 37 missiles. The Indians had literally turned it into a unicorn ....Outcome the 27 Feb and safradors vanished like a fart in the wind

Agreed.

But..., everything does seem pretty *hush-hush* at the moment. I'm gonna take those of you back to my conversation with an Air Commodore during the DxB Air Show a couple of months back after I asked a number of Questions regarding the Block III & The B-variant.

Upon asking him, if the B-variant was going to have a EW Suite, he denied. But there are a number of things he stated about the Block III, that turned out to be the complete opposite when the Block III took flight last month (Dec '19).

So my point is rather simple. The PAF/PAC seem to be only releasing just enough info to let us and the rest of the World know that we're up to speed, but still want to keep us guessing.

If I was to go by (just) your assessment that the B-Variant was platform for Training Pilots, then in my opinion that ship has already sailed a decade too late. 8 Delivered & another double-digit being handed over this year seems...unconventional for an Air Force where our boys just hop into a JF-17 & get airborne without even seeing a Trainer Variant of the JF-17.

Q. If the PAF/PAC/Catic can stuff an EW Suite in a single-seater Block III, whats stopping 'em from doing that in a 2-seater where the Rio isn't just there for the ride?

We as a nation, have confidence on our boys, but couple of things here i would share;

Rafale / Meteor = X / PL

BUT we ain't finding the answer to the "X" part above & that is what worries many here.

Now CAS himself saying that it wiil be catered but how?? We ain't asking to share war plans, tactics or details of EW, but it is also our right as a nation to ask / inquire what is being done / procured to counter a good, capable weapon we know our foe is getting.

Probable Solution for X ??
In my non professional opinion, following are the realistic solutions PAF can go for;

1) As @MastanKhan has said before, :pakistan:

Procure 3 even 4 Thunders (& now we are about to have newer block) for every rafale, quantity is a quality of its own. We can get 3,4 birds in a price of 1 Rafale.
India despite having huge resources, still have them in finite amount.
Use the production line in China or better yet set up an other one in Kamra. Export orders plus increased demand for PAF will bring per unit price even lower, Economy of Scale.

2)Again, @MastanKhan and many other members have said before; :china:

If shit is about to hit the fan, just get J--10C, off the shelf. I know many will say about inventory management/pilot & tech training/developing tactics but it's the most realistic scenario.
Add the factor that it will take IAF good number of years as well to master their new bird as well. You have to start somewhere & I don't think PAF ain't that dumb that they haven't played with J-10 already.

3) A bit difficult but not impossible :usflag:

Get a Squad of new Block 70 Vipers and you will also be allowed to upgrade the old ones, as USA ain't letting u just upgrade the old ones alone until you buy new as well.

Also going this path, you can make USA agree to let us buy used ones from Jordan or whoever else is retiring them.

Before anyone points out that 3rd option is not possible, let me say that You have to make it possible and it is possible, make realize the sane minds in Pentagon and Washington that balance of Power has to be kept in check in South Asia and only their tech can do it and out class French one for us.

And as much as the question of $$, we should manage that much even if USA ain't letting our CSF be used for this, to hell with it, just get what you need. For a greater good, sometimes you have to let go your right, see the bigger picture, keep in mind your end goal.

Also we should not put all our eggs in one basket, Diversification is a good thing and especially when it comes to tech / weapon innovation & who is the best in it ? :usflag:. I think the reason PAF is happy with Thunder is because we were trained by the best & on the best & all that knowledge / experience went in project scope of Thunder.

Despite being in bad economic shape, we can manage, PAF can manage $$ for Vipers.How?? Just to give an idea , a single point among many is;

a)We don't have to pay upfront, the complete cost at once.
b)We are called beggars (not being proud :astagh: ), so what difference does it make if it's a penny, barrels of oil or a vault. Make sure Pakistan did not attend Malaysia summit for nothing.

@MastanKhan I have a hunch that you will bring this up but, No, sir don't bring up again the Yemen
(ain't saying I was in favour or against it) But that ship has sailed, what's done is done, let's look what we can do now.

c)..... Add up, can't spoon feed :-)

Brothers can agree or disagree, add their own opinions as well. I don't claim I know better than the professionals or think tanks but surfing on PDF years and years, accounting for current geo political scenario, this is the conclusion I have reached upon.

Lol I remember those days

Even Cricket match threads used to become SU30 gloating debate :lol:

Rafael is the new SU30

I think we're thinking a little too much about the Rafale and the Meteor...

I'm not a 100% certain, but I think I read somewhere that the Rafales will not be stationed at the Western front, but rather alongside China.

Apologies (in advance) if I may have gotten that piece wrong.

How would J-10C / FC-20 match up against the Rafale's ?
