BD To Seek $26 Billion From China for Power.

I think China should invest this money and gain influence inside Bangladesh. The current government is increasingly turning Bangladesh into a vassal state of India*, so you guys can channel any future influence you gain towards bringing a neutral government to power.

*Meekly accepting any kind of Indian abuse and humiliation against Bangladeshi citizens (http://archive.dhakatribune.com/ban...-kills-591-bangladeshi-citizens-last-10-years, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-16625104)
*Giving India free access through its territory (http://www.nezine.com/info/Transit for India sparks debate in Bangladesh)
*Accepting terrorism originating from India (http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/2016/10/04/gulshan-attack-arms-reached-dhaka-mango-baskets/), but blaming Pakistan instead (https://defence.pk/threads/gulshan-attack-arms-came-from-bihar-india.453400/#post-8768979).

For that to happen, I guess Pakistan must ensure that China doesn't lose its confidence on Bangladesh. However, as things are proceeding, it looks like Pakistan has initiated a mass propaganda campaign to portrait Bangladesh as India's vassal which will further isolate us and further push us into India's sphere of influence...

The military is still a major stakeholder in Bangladeshi politics and the recent developments suggest that Bangladesh military has become largely pro-China. Considering the emerging geopolitics centering the Indian Ocean and particularly the Bay of Bengal, Pakistan should encourage China to keep assisting the modernization of Bangladesh Navy as the most important partner...

People, don't underestimate Shekher Beti. She knows how to play her cards. What some envoys says carries no meaning. Only Hasina's words are final.

Unlike the idiot in our Delhi office Hasina today hoped for restraint from both India and Pakistan, and said we want peace to be maintained.
And to a different note Sayed Ashraf Ali, a key member of BAL policy making body, openly claimed everyone in his party and government as "Pro- China" ( চীনপন্থি).
so friends who are thinking BD - China relations may be jeopardised, can now have a good peaceful night.

BD To Seek $26 Billion From China for Power
EB Report

Bangladesh is about to seek $26 billion for 21 different projects of the country’s power sector from China during the upcoming visit of the Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Power division has formally submitted its requisition paper addressing that amount of funding to the Economic Relations Division (ERD).

Recently in an inter-ministry meeting chaired by ERD additional secretary Abul Monsur Mohammad Fayjulla, the Power division has proposed the name and funding needed for that 21 projects. Sources from ERD confirmed that the prime minister’s office will ultimately sort list the loan seeking projects. After that, the finalized list will be sent to the Exim Bank of China and then the Bank will decide where to give credit.

However, the authority has already asked for $23 billion for 20 different projects to the Exim Bank of China; and as of now, the Bank has not replied with any positivity on giving credit for any of the projects. Yet, ERD officials are hopeful to get some positive news before the Chinese President arrives the country.

The Power division is especially looking forward getting the largest credit valuing around $2 billion for the Matarbari 1,320MW power plant project. The deal is already finalized and only awaiting a final signing in presence of the state’s representatives of both the partner countries.

According to the new list of the Power division, it includes projects like, ‘System loss reduction by replacing five million electromechanical energy meter with electronic energy meter project’, which worth $166 million, ‘Expansion and strengthening of power system network under DPDC area project’ valuing $2.03 billion, ‘Power grid network strengthening project under PGCB’ valuing $1.32 billion, 360 MW Mymensing duel fuel combined cycle power plant having a seeking budget of BDT 33.79.

There is actually not much talk about Bangladesh at all in Pakistan. What Pakistani members like myself are saying about Haseena is based on her governments behavior in recent years. As a country close to China however, it is naturally good for us as well if China expands its influence in Bangladesh, and BD is able to counter growing Indian influence using China to balance things of. At the end of the day we have no beef with BD, and as said Bangladesh hardly ever features in news in Pakistan. Most coverage here is based on Kashmir, India, domestic issues and Afghanistan.

.
@TopCat: You sound so optimistic. If it's so much money to be made why don't Europeans or Americans or your new ally India run into BD? Are they stupid?

You are spot on. China will keep minimum relation and investment necessary but will not make bloated and and strategic investment as indian vessle state cheer leaders bongbong, doyalbaba, Russel, TopCat, bluesky, bd_4_ever verities are propagating.

$26 billion is just current indian stooge regime propaganda so it can make propaganda in the name of "Chinese money". When China requested to build deep sea port in Sonadia, building Cox's bazar airport and willing to provide duty free access to Bangladeshi products, this indian stooge awami regime rejected all those projects. China by now knows this regime is just a indian puppet and does not serve interest of Bangladesh.

Satellite state, vassal state are the propaganda word of Pakistani members here.

This how typical awami cheerleaders lie on face.

Embraceable you
Jul 30th 2011 | DHAKA |NOT much noticed by outsiders, long-troubled ties between two neighbours sharing a long border have taken a substantial lurch for the better. Ever since 2008, when the Awami League, helped by bags of Indian cash and advice, triumphed in general elections in Bangladesh, relations with India have blossomed.

When did the opinion published in the Diplomat's debate section became a view of the Diplomat's own, since it was published by Pakistani agent BNP's activist Esam Sohail

Diplomat or any other magazine does not publish anything that they do not find truth to it. Same goes for what Economist published. It is just futile to defend the awami league which turned Bangladesh into a vessel state.

None of my concern but in the BD Army Commando 'war game' thread, I quote that gutter-born moron - "these media just propagated what came out of awami propaganda mouth piece. There is media market survives on mindless re circulation." (post 22)

Source: https://defence.pk/threads/bd-army-...nd-cricket-series.454014/page-2#ixzz4MLEJqyZp

Daily Mail of UK and even Pakistan's Tribute.com are now miraculously spewing AL propaganda, but but but... Diplomat of UK has nothing to do with Pakistan.

.
I am afraid this might be bad investment. After all, it is India's call regarding the foreign policy of Bangladesh. Given India diplomatic relationship with Pakistan and China, i doubt China investment would be in the safe hands. Just honest observation on ground reality here. No offense to Bangladeshi here.

Business is business regardless of what you think, money talks and we are now at a point in time where various countries are looking to invest in Bangladesh (China, Japan, South Korea, USA, and even india). We are growing at above 7% per year and thats likely to accelerate...so no offence taken, were happy.

He is best known to adjust his hole according to requirement of his client in any way possible

Its not the first time and his hypocrisy is so freaking caught red-handed that he will come back barking the same recorded name-calling nonsense at best. Gutter-born for a reason.
