Flying Hours on other aircraft

As OC of No-5 Squadron then as a Wing Commander Umer Rasheed (Centre) leading his unit in Red & Green Flags 16-4 In Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

It was during Red Flag 2016, where as a Wing Commander, Umer Rasheed led his unit, that the Commander of Israeli contingent personally visited the Pakistani Camp to acknowledge PAF for it's professionalism.

Excuse my math, 3000 flying hrs/8 hrs work day = 375. That’s approx little more than 1 work year of flying.

Idk but for a Soldiers, 1 year of tactical combat drills or for a Navy diver 1 year of Under water demolition dives are still consider some what rookie in their units.

Ok, I know he is flying F-Sola, but at the end, it’s still just one year equivalent of practice hrs on the machine.

He was most probably thanking PAF for not holding any punches and showing all there tactics and skills, and encouraging them to keep doing it, so that Israelis can develop their counter tactics. :butcher:

Great achievement. But Since Pakistan operates a good sized fleet I thought more than 3000 hrs at least. But hey what can you do.

F-16s fly long missions, and this was even during the time when the embargo was on. Pilots were averaging very high hours annually when assigned to the Viper. In Omar's case, it could be he started very early, was involved with overseas flying, exercises, ferries etc etc. And the more hours he has, the better it is.

I personally admire any fighter jock who has high hours, it translates more to them given time in the cockpit. My father has 6600+ hours in military jets and counting......nothing is more valuable than to see how you can learn everyday something new with experience.

It is a solid achievement overall, and that is more understood within the military aviation community.

There is another Viper driver, non-Pakistani, he has made an entire career of flying Vipers with an impressive over 7000 hours in the F-16. He's currently flying Block 60s in the UAE and will possibly declare his hours after retirement.

1000,2000,3000.....7k+ these are all significant achievements. A lot of hours are taken into account just for an hour of a flight itself. 1-3 hours on average before each mission full of various topics and briefings.

So comparison with army and Navy tactical units of 1 year equivalency is not exactly an accurate assessment.

3000 is time in type.
His TT or total time must be way way more than that.

Entire career flying vipers is truly impressive. Is he an American or Arab ?

My entire flying time is little above 2 hours with flight time of 2-3 minutes per flight. L-23 Blanik Glider.

I totally understand, everything is relative. Relative to profession and flight hours of others in same profession. Still intuitively saying, practice makes perfect. If I am to trust defense of 220 million on few hundred jets, I would have these pilots fly these machines until they can takeoff and land blind folded (rhetorically speaking). Like soldiers often field strip their machine guns blind folded.
