Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov attend an inter-delegations meeting in Antalya's Belek town, Turkey on March 29, 2019. (AA)
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Friday the deal to purchase S-400 defence systems from Russia will be honoured, and that Ankara has met its obligations to be part of the US F-35 fighter aircraft programme.

Cavusoglu's remarks came after the 7th Turkish-Russian Joint Strategic Planning Group Meeting in Antalya, where the minister discussed bilateral relations as well as current regional and international developments with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

He also said Turkey had no intention of selling the S-400s to another country, and that Turkey and Russia were discussing delivery times.

The Turkish foreign minister also said the United States was making contradictory statements over the F-35 programme.

LOL, It is very difficult to deter Turkey. They are a stubborn blood line I must say good going Turks.

It's a bad move I think. With this stubborn attitude they are going to lost buying F-35 from US and lost billion of dollar business of maintaining work from other country. Turkey can develop near equivalent of S-400 but a F-35 will take time. So it would better they first get all their F-35 and then purchase the S-400. Annoying US will have consequences.

Nope they are not going to lose F-35. Turkey knows its position very well. Turkey is a Major contributor to NATO and if after S-400 Turkey goes for PAK FA-50 then what? it will place whole NATO at risk. Europe cannot just throw Turkey out NATO and under total Russian influence. They will have to give Turkey F-35. The training of Turkish pilots of F-35 is going as planed in US.
