Air Force Chiefs leaves for China

The only reason Pakistan is not 100% committed on F31 is because China did not take Pakistan on board from day one. Where as Turkey took Pakistan on board when they started off with the Turkish Fighter X program.
Well I personally beleive that Pakistan should work on the Turkish 5th gen fighter and also get in talks with China for a couple of squadrons of J-31 as TAI TFX is still on drawing boards. Moreover we should also get in talks with Turkey for their used F-16s which they would be retiring once they get F-35, this would ensure a good tier 2, a combination of F-16 and JF-17.
When PM of Pakistan visited China it was stated(incorrectly in the papers) that JF-17 stealth variant has been asked.
So your'e saying that PM asked for J-31?

Air Force Chief has left for China where he would meet senior Military and Political leadership of China. Main goal of this visit is to make further improvements in JF-17.

Welcome Chief! Hope the visit will help the JF-17 program (e.g. AESA, composite materials), as well as other areas of interests say J31, UAV, AWACS, SAM and ASW.

Hi,

It will----. It will absolutely do it---. Aesa is the 10 foot gorilla---. With aesa---this aircraft will neutralize every other non aesa aircraft in its class. It can see them first without showing its position---.

It will be extremely tough to jam the aesa radar. The advantage will be in the BVR missile---what your missile can do.

well last night i read a bit about AESA , so yeah i guess with it JF-17 will outclass any plane in its league ..
my concern is exactly what your's is , PAF is lacking heavies for deep strikes ... we cant just rely on Radars are we ?? specially when it comes to Naval Strike Package ...
hopefully our chief will ink some good deals

Oh sorry. My bad.

With those upgrades, it'll be at par with all 4th Gen fighter aircrafts in its class.

For deep strikes, we definately need a twin engine fighter.

and what options do we have ? or any bird is in the eye of our Think tanks ?
do you think we can Afford 2 sqs of F-18 ? if US agreed to sell ?

Hi,

The type of propulsion of the BVR missiles will play an extremely important role. That is why I keep saying----have a better BVR platform----that will take care of some of the shortcomings of the aircraft.

are you pointing toward ramjet air breathing bvr like meteor

The thing is Pakistan has historically operated equipment from various sources. So it is highly likely PAF would field TFX and J-31's or any other fighter aircraft available.

The only issue now is would PAF going to have multi engine aircraft?

More F-16's would limit any upgrades to the JF-17's so...no F-16 would come in the future. JF-17 would be added.

So your'e saying that PM asked for J-31?
Yes... There is a single engine 5 gen design too...
In Turkey the TFX single engine design too...
So some thing is going on... PDF seniors saying nothing and all threads regarding 5th Gen for Pakistan are gone or no more replies can be made.

Sir,
What is the accuracy of BVR missiles?

I find it so strange that we don't work on A2A, A2G, AntiTank, SAM missiles a lot. We just have anzas and baktar shikans we keep producing and that's about it. Sure we do a lot of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles but we don't focus AT ALL on A2A missiles, not even baby steps. I really think we should. AWC is the organization that should.

A professor of mine from my university who was a retired member from KRL said 'bang-bang control' is something our scientists have struggled a lot with. But I supposed he was talking about ballistic missile control because I don't think anyone uses thrusters on A2A missiles.

SD-10A is okay. We need something like the Meteor and I refuse to believe anyone who says we can't. We can and we should.

we can't have meteor due to binyas relation with European countries but we can definitely try to lay our hands on pl-21 or pl-12d whatever Chinese are calling it and it was speculated that it will be ready in 2012 or 2013 project was initiated in 2006 and from its released spec it look like a great missile might be in meteor class

We are not buying sweets from Gourmet :D
2 kg rasgulle navy waloon k liye, or aik kilo matahi air force walon k liye

judging by progress Indian makes in air crafts, Su50 is decade away atleast. We will induct 5th G platform if India go for 5thG too. Right now we need some air craft to fill the gap between Falcons and J31.............

koi dil ki baat b ni kr skta ab :D

Hi,

SD10A matched to an AESA will be an extremely potent missile.

The only option that I see is a JV with china and south Africa on a missile development----. Other than that---there is not much out there.

I meant meteor class, not the meteor exactly. my bad.

No idea. F-18s? Not sure about the affording part but if you have the money, sure.

I think PAF personally does not hate twin engine because they have 2 engines but don't prefer them due to the high maintenance cost they have.

Well as 2nd hand F-16 cost lesser than a JF-17 buying if available wont be wrong? I am not saying completely stop thunder program but keep the option open unless JF-17 gets AESA and all the upgrades proposed for block 3.
In Turkey the TFX single engine design too...
As far as I have read TAI TFX is a single engine aircraft. moreover the article said that Turkish PM has clearly said that TAI TFX would be pure indigenous aircraft with no foreign help. So now where does Pakistan fits in here?

If that is the case then PAF would definitely be interesting.

Still some how I believe that it will be a milti-engine aircraft. This is the latest picture of the designer and if you do look at the model it does not clearly show the engines. But the design is similar to a twin engine one

China is building fighters for more than 50 years and J 31 is at testing. Technologies like dsi even Russia does not have on its fighters. So if I were you I wont be late for J31. TFX is ambitious but Turkeys first attempt for a total indigineous fighter and with tech transfer it is possible. But this makes spare parts production dependant on west. If you will have problems usa you will have problems with the fighter procurement.Still consider it for diversification with j31 backbone.

For jf17 conformal tanks can be added behind inlets that can store missiles. Inlets are already dsi and somewhat angled. From top aspect the fuselage is cylinder and vertical tail. That can be fixed by flattening top fuselage and V tail to eliminate vertical tail corner reflection while flying low against high alt targets.
