Just war and war and war.... Why cant people talk peace? 1962 was more than 50years ago.... How can a country like china still bash india on 1962? If they can than why not japan vs china and what japan did to them? Did that make them small? Built ur military power not for war but for peace.... As far as i know the technology Aliens has are far deadly than we can imagine.... India, china and world not in power.... Its the aliens who are in power and we cant do anything about it.... Stop talking war and war always.... Talk peace.... Built ur military strong so there can be peace....

Usually these kind of chest thumping statements are made for home consumption, either after assumption of command or when there is anxiety or pressure from certain quarters.
Realistically, when some three years later, the IAF did go offensive against Pakistan in 1965 war, what did it exactly achieve that it could have in 1962. !!!

The war was militarily inconclusive; each side held prisoners and some territory belonging to the other. Losses were relatively heavy--on the Pakistani side, twenty aircraft, 200 tanks, and 3,800 troops. Pakistan's army had been able to withstand Indian pressure, but a continuation of the fighting would only have led to further losses and ultimate defeat for Pakistan. Most Pakistanis, schooled in the belief of their own martial prowess, refused to accept the possibility of their country's military defeat by "Hindu India" and were, instead, quick to blame their failure to attain their military aims on what they considered to be the ineptitude of Ayub Khan and his government.

How is situation of PAF and PLAF even comparable.

For 1965 part, IAF prevented PAF from achieving air superiority and provided air cover for its troops.

In the absence of Chinese air cover in the Aksai Chin sector, IAF could have led to Longewala like victories. though not in NEFA.

Agreed, but at the time of emergency it is of utmost importance that a nation utilizes every asset it has for the defence of the nation, it was a political & military blunder from the Indian leaders at that time to not utilize the IAF for offensive purpose. I am not saying that if the IAF was used more properly than India would had won the war, but atleast we could have made the result of the war a stalemate instead of a shameful loss.

He is right to some extent, if we could not had a complete victory over PAF in 1965, how can we think of defeating PLAAF in 1962??

By that logic, when we did have complete victory in 1971, in 1975 we could eaten China raw, digested and excreted them out by 1978.

India will loose Assam/Tripura to greater Bangladesh if there were any war with China. Those people in NE just waiting for the opportune time and already started scouting. ;)

No, u can't compare 1971 to 1965 or 1962,since after 2 wars in one of which we got complete defeat & in another there was a more of a stalemate situation, Indian leadership finally woke up to the needs of military & importance of defence of the nation. Under the strong leadership of Indira Gandhi, we made every arm of our military more & more powerful each passing day, in 1971 many factors were in our favor like the USSR friendship treaty, local Bangladeshi help, no interference from China or US, strong military leadership under Sam Manekshaw, etc., helped us achieve a massive victory. The main reason why we won '71 was that we came to realize our true power, which was not at all visible in either 1962 or 1965.

The constraints faced by PLAAF were and are far greater than those by PAF.

But yes in the event PLAAF chose to bomb Indian air bases, the burden would be upon the Indian Interceptor to defend them, as India had no modern SAMs back then.
