my knowledge might be as limited too but at least i know there is nothing wrong with this statement technically as far as yoga is concerned neither insulting.

There is this Adho Mukha Svanasana which is called Downward facing Dog pose in Yoga which is considered one of benefiting poses.

You need to check the postures in all steps are those of dog.

My Grandfather(Nana) use to do Yoga, since he stayed in Shimla (India) trust me He was in very good shape and very active. So that makes me think Yoga or whatever you wanna call it is a good thing to do.

Pranayam and body stretches to ensure the flow of oxygen to all cells could be as ancient a practice as human existence itself. come on mate.. he is most likely an atheist but from islamic heritage.. when you leave your religion, it very rarely mean you always rage against it like @Imran Khan .. most likely you have fond memories of your childhood, of kind neighbourhood chacha, your parents who are still believers but lead a righteous and honourable life. That means you are likely to keep the worm and fuzzy feelings of your ex religion. You willl be much more objective and easily critical of other religion, because you had no association to begin with.
Thats what makes you culturally muslim/hindu/christian... you will think its too silly for you but not all that bad for others and there are definitely some good bits.
