You have enough overflights over India so that we can block them as tit-for-tat if situation demands. How do you think you guys reach Kathmandu, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala lumpur, Dhaka, Yangon etc. ?? LOL :p:

Moreover our Airline carriers have requested GOI multiple times to completely avoid Pakistani air space in the past, so I guess any such move from you will be welcomed with both hands. :p:

India has no love lost for Afghanistan, they support them only to quarantine Pakistan. How can the Indians forget that there is a whole mountain range in Afghanistan called HINDU KUSH.


Pakistan can't be quarantined no matter what anyone says or does. TBH, I'm just sick and tired of Afghanistan & Afghans. With Pakistan having to look after them for 40 years. The indians are more than welcome to them. Just get them far and away from Pakistan.

For one its a trade aircrafts. Why it should be banned? Are u guys even out of logic.

China will never ban Indian civilian flights. If they thing Pakistan can ask China to ban civilian flights is an overestimation of their influence wrt China.

It's almost certain that these planes will be used to transport military equipment to arm anti-Pakistan terrorist and possibly opium considering we're talking about Afghanistan here.

  • Afghanistan isn't Syria , they have a functional government.
  • Iran is a closer ally to India. Open a text book we have historically supported each other . Our trade with iran is multiple of what Pakistan has.



  • Uncle sam has historically supported Pakistan over India , especially in context with Afghanistan , even with decades of influence you couldn't convince a land locked nation to your side.
  • Chamber has already been inked , the only reason there is slow development is because indian state owned companies incharge are refusing to open tenders for western manufacturers , since trump administration is more hostile to iran. Meaning they will back away mid deal fearing from santions too. The tenders will be passed after modi meet up with trump .
Only an Indian would consider Afghanistan's government to be suitable. Are you up to date with the territory map of Afghanistan? The Afghanistan that is familiar to you Indians is half the size of what it actually is with the Afghan government controlling around half of Afghanistan.

Do your research; Iran diplomatically supported Pakistan during the 1965 war and initially during the 1971, albeit in a limited fashion. Anyway, the foreign policy of Iran with regard to South Asia pre-revolution for the most part can be disregarded due to its shift post-revolution.

It is true that India-Iran bilateral trade volume is greater than Pakistan-Iran trade volume but with significant development in trade-oriented infrastructure i.e. the Chabahar and Gwadar ports our bilateral trade volume will grow at a rapid rate. The Iranians are very much aware of this as they refuse to label Chabahar as a competitor to Gwadar.

While Iran is on good terms with both India and Pakistan, it is clear that Iran will pursue a balanced foreign policy with regards to India and Pakistan and if Pakistan puts enough pressure on Iran to block any attempts by India to bypass Pakistan while at the same time convincing them that this air-route is a threat to Pakistan's national security, Iran will comply.

You are looking at 3-4+ hours more of flight time and an exponentially increased fuel burn. While finding an alternative route to af is less costly

The cargo, worth about $5 million dollars, was the first in what officials from the two countries hope will be many flights allowing Afghan and Indian companies to bypass Pakistan, which strictly limits the shipment of goods by land between India and Afghanistan and is often involved in border disputes with them.

“Our aim is to change Afghanistan to an exporter country,” Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said at a ceremony marking the inaugural flight.

“As long as we are not an exporter country, then poverty and instability will not be eliminated.”

The cargo service aims to improve landlocked Afghanistan's links to markets abroad and boost the growth prospects of its agricultural and carpet industries while it battles a deadly Taliban insurgency, Indian officials have said.

“We will continue to assist you in various ways as this corridor expands and grows into a network of cargo flights as per demand of the market,” India's ambassador to Afghanistan, Manpreet Vohra, told Ghani.

“There are bound to be some teething problems in any major initiatives such as this but my embassy and my government is committed to working together with your team to resolve all issues that may pop up from time to time.”

Afghanistan depends on Karachi port for its foreign trade. It is allowed to send a limited amount of goods overland through Pakistan into India, but imports from India are not allowed along this route.

Border crossings are often closed as Afghan and Pakistani forces clash over the disputed border, and Afghan farmers have complained of fruit and other produce rotting without other options for shipping.

Next week, a second flight to India is scheduled to depart from the southern city of Kandahar, carrying 40 tons of dried fruit.

President Ashraf Ghani has inaugurated the first Afghanistan-India air corridor during a ceremony at the Kabul international airport – a direct route that bypasses Pakistan and is meant to improve commerce.

Ghani, who thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the air corridor, said the aim of the route is to create more opportunities and make Afghanistan an exporter country. “India is a big market for Afghan goods,” he said.

The president’s adviser, Sediqullah Mujadedi, said Afghan agricultural products will for the first time head to India on cargo planes. Mujadedi said the first India-bound flight on Monday included 60 tons of medicinal plants and a second flight will carry 40 tons of dry fruits from the southern Kandahar province.

Afghanistan is a mountainous landlocked country and all imports and exports depend on neighbouring countries. Even before relations between Kabul and Islamabad became strained over accusations of harbouring militants, Pakistan has stymied Afghanistan’s efforts to trade with India.

After Afghanistan and Pakistan signed a transit trade agreement in 2010, Islamabad allowed Afghan trucks to carry goods up to the Indian border but barred them from ferrying any Indian goods through Pakistani territory.

The Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) said the medicinal plants carried on the first flight were valued at $11 million. ACCI officials said the cost of transporting a kilogram of vegetables and fresh fruit from Kabul and Kandahar to Indian markets will be about 20 cents per kg, and the cost of a kilogram of goods from India to Afghanistan will be about 40 cents.

“Air cargo will help us increase our exports. (On Monday), 60 tons of medicinal plants will leave for India and after this, five flights will go to India from Kabul and Kandahar per week,” said Tawfiq Davari, ACCI’s financial deputy head.

Afghan businessmen and traders welcomed the initiative and said the air corridor will increase trade volumes between Afghanistan and other countries. They also said India is a lucrative market for them, especially for fresh and dried fruits.

The cost of air transit to Delhi and Amritsar is cheap and goods can be transferred from these cities to countries around the world, traders were quoted as saying by Tolo News.

“We have (made) the necessary preparations. We have built a cold room and a small packaging factory to pack the fruit properly. Also there are refrigerated vehicles,” said Nejabat Haidari, head of Fresh Fruits Union.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan embassy in Kabul said in a statement on Monday that Pakistan too intends to open a transit route for Afghan exports.

A number of economic analysts said with the “continued border closures between Pakistan and Afghanistan, traders cannot count on Pakistan’s move”, Tolo News reported.

"Indian's objection to the B&R is partly a show for domestic politics, partly to pile pressure on China. However, the absence of New Delhi in the B&R has not affected the forum in Beijing, and it will exert even less effect on the progress the initiative will make in the world."

How about turning off your Indian superpower of twisting reality and telling me where in the article it says that the port was sold to India? The port is owned by the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran. The 10 year number given describes the estimated duration of the development project.

Pakistan has no need to be part of the INST. The OBOR is a more well-thought out initiative that will offer a better route of transport for goods to and from Central Asia and of course China, which is a stronger economy than India.

You think it isn't in Iran's interest to not alienate Pakistan? Bear in mind that Pakistan goes to great lengths to keep its relationship with Saudi Arabia and Iran balanced and as soft as Pakistan is to treacherous nations, Pakistan will have no reason to continue to please Iran if they do not comply.
