What's new

With New Move Involving Planes, India And Afghanistan Bypass Pakistan

And India will cut off Pakistan's overflight rights to East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia etc. Good luck.

And Pakistan can cut off your air routes to middle east, CAS even Europe we have options to our disposal too
any way the air route will be very costly most probably will not be used frequently

Because Pakistan can't influence its piss poor ,landlocked , war torn neighbour , let alone Iran & China.

iran as a matter of fact is closer ally to India than Pakistan, hell we even have a port there.

Thanks to uncle sam. Take the Americans out of the equation and you'll see our influence over Afghanistan.

As for your port in Iran - how many Indian ships have docked there this year? How much cargo is it currently handling? Hope it's going well and you don't lose this to the Russians too :-)

NEW DELHI: An aircraft packed with 60 tons of asafoetida, or hing, marked the opening of the first air cargo corridor between Afghanistan and India today. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has received the plane, leased by Afghan carrier Ariana

The cargo, worth about $6 million dollars, was the first in what officials from the two countries hope will be many flights allowing Afghan and Indian companies to bypass Pakistan, which strictly limits the shipment of goods by land between India and Afghanistan often as part of border disputes.

Afghanistan depends on the Pakistani port of Karachi for its foreign trade. It is allowed to send a limited amount of goods overland through Pakistan into India, but imports from India are not allowed along this route.

The new air corridor aims to boost trade between India and Afghanistan from $800 million to $1 billion in three years and $10 billion in five years. While it bypasses Pakistan, necessary overflight permissions have been taken, though that allows the possibility of Islamabad acting as spoiler if it wants.

Namak Haramis led by Gadha Ghani inaugurate air corridor between India and Afghanistan

Next week, a second flight to India is scheduled to depart from the southern city of Kandahar, carrying 40 tons of dried fruit.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani first proposed the air corridor in September last year in a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi; details were worked out when both attended a regional summit in Amritsar in December.

The first flight in this corridor from Delhi to Kabul yesterday exported 100 tons of Indian goods. There will be several flights every week from Kabul and Kandahar to India, depending on seasonal demand.

The cargo service aims to improve landlocked Afghanistan's links to markets abroad and boost the growth prospects of its agricultural and carpet industries while it battles a deadly Taliban insurgency, Indian officials have said.

"We will continue to assist you in various ways as this corridor expands and grows into a network of cargo flights as per demand of the market," India's ambassador to Afghanistan, Manpreet Vohra, told President Ghani.

Pakistan should "act as spoiler" immediately and permanently.

Finally, great news for Afghanistan! Now they can bypass Pakistan and import all the essentials like vegetables, wheat, oil and heavy machinery direct from India via air transport :yahoo::victory::bounce: mighty India has truly found a 21st century solution once again

Don't know why us Pakistanis are still stuck in the past using sea and road to transport :(

Its my personal feelings that even if Pakistan doesn't spoils, things will get spoiled themselves. Pakistan, just calm down and keep an eye.

.
What makes you think India can't? We can use both iran &Chinese airspace to reach Afghanistan, the problem is its a giant detour wate of fuel & time .

Pakistan on the otherhand would need to fly over the remote mountains of tibet to reach the nearest airport, Lasa which is further than Nepal & Bihar.

Lol
I dont know what India has seen in Afghanistan that emphasizing to reach there at any cost.... :)
Afghanistan is nothing without Pakistan. let both India and Afghanistan try to start such routes but at last they both have to turn Pakistan for assistance and support... Afghanistan's prosperity is naturally linked with Pakistan... so whatever the other options are tried but both india and afghanistan will have to rely on Pakistan....

Its my personal feelings that even if Pakistan doesn't spoils, things will get spoiled themselves. Pakistan, just calm down and keep an eye.
Pakistan's geo location is such that relations between India and Afghanistan cant go ahead if Pakistan is not involved...After thousand attempts they have to turn at last to Pakistan....

.
this is just a little step.higher prices for cheap products.india just wants influence nothing else.it will not irritate us.let them do whatever they want.we must play our cards wisely.

Im sure their is more then just cheap products in their. For it to be financial viable, it must be taking other stuff then just food.

Afghanistan is more of a war than a country and full of foreign influence from countries hostile to Pakistan. Iran and China on the other hand are functioning nations with long standing and strong ties with Pakistan.

I hope you're kidding about Iran being a close ally of India let alone a stronger ally to India than Pakistan. Just because you're jointly developing a port doesn't mean you're best buddies.

I have a news for India and Afghanistan, the world has been doing air cargo for last 50 years, what is new about this scientific break thru

Can you instead take all the 35 million Afghan refugees in pakistan in exchange?... caution they are very corrupt mullah bearded types...

And somehow Indian airlines only use Pak airspace for travelling to Afghanistan?

You people are ironically hilarious.

Hardly "bypass" when the corridor flies over Pakistani administered and owned airspace.

Irony.. "Air route to bypass Pak".. using Pak airspace..

Lol
And for that to happen you will either have to fly over Pak maritime territory or bypass it... and than fly to Iran and than Afghanistan...making it even more costly..

.
What makes you think Iran or China would allow Indian aircraft transit to Afghanistan if Pakistan advocates them not to?

For one its a trade aircrafts. Why it should be banned? Are u guys even out of logic.

China will never ban Indian civilian flights. If they thing Pakistan can ask China to ban civilian flights is an overestimation of their influence wrt China.

without chahbahar India is not going to displace Pakistan as Afghanistan leading partner

This is actually great news. Let this route grow. Hopefully we can now permanently seal the border with Afghanistan. Nothing from Afghanistan or india comes into Pakistan, nothing goes out. We've been looking after the Afghans for over 40 years. The indians are welcome to them. Let this transit route prosper. Just keep Pakistan out of it.

someone is sore about not being paid. I do not blame you. I like being paid too :-)

Neither Pakistan nor India can block passage of Passenger planes according to an international treaty. On the other hand it is upto Pakistan and India to block cargo and military aircrafts as that power resides with the respective country.

Secondly hardly any Pakistani air transport passes through india for very good reasons so knock yourself out.
