Why we Indians need Joe here

I hate the mob. Except when it allows me to sneak away. :D

Well I have seen one and it ain't pretty. Anyway the sneaking away part usually follows a crime :D

I honestly don't know where all this ill feeling for Mr @Joe Shearer has come from and that is has got to the point that it demands its own thread is mind boggling to me.

Every interaction I have had with him has been positive and I always found him kind-hearted, considerate and warm and worthy of the respect he was shown.

At this stage most of us are having fun.

Is this one any good? I havent heard any good things about it really.

Fear the walking dead seemed too slow for me.
Z Nation is JUST okay-----Since its by SyFy. Try British mini series Dead Set. It's GOOOOOD!

.
I have seen all the zombie movies there are to be seen. Are you watching 'Fear the walking dead' and 'Z Nation'? They are not as good as The Walking Dead thou.
z nation is a b grade asylum product, did not like it, fear the walking dead is class though. do u know any zombie comedy like of 'Shaun of the dead' or 'Zombieland'? Zombies are such a cute brunch of evil, scary yet easy to kill. Will prefer a zombie apocalypse any day than a vampire or werewolf one:p:

I am seeing way too much ganging up and hitting out at Joe guys.

I am reminded of the Moto GP race yesterday (and the past few)where the puppies are ganging upand snapping at the withers of the aging lion.

Why is Joe important for us?

He very articulately expresses the view of the far left. Of the liberal. The once communist. The atheist. The secular (no prefix attached). The religion hater. The Modi hater. The Hindu right wing hater.

We have no other like him who also happens to be a Hindu.

More importantly, for me, he's old school.

And we have no Indian babajee his age.

The Pakistanis have a few.

We have exactly zero left (Ray long gone) who can talk to them as a generational equal. And be taken seriously.

So please be respectful.

If he's old enough to be my dad, he's old enough to be most of your dadoo.

I detest greatly those low lifes who abuse him. A physical distaste.

Cheers, Doc

@Joe Shearer is one of few Indian members here whose opinions I take seriously. He is well learnt and informed, and with an open mind above the most. He represents a school thoughts that are rare and valuable in today's raging Hindutva Nationalistic sentiment. Personally, I had a few conversations with him and learn a lot from him, and he is graceful in his demeanor and is ready to accept different opinions if it is presented with logical reasoning. He and his alike should be considered the positive force that will truly push India in a progressive path, in light of current Indian political environment.

I do not understand why so many Indian members are so intolerant to his point of view, and ready to resort to personal attack against him. It would be a great loss to PDF if he cannot stand the abuse and quit PDF. I urge all members to have an open mind, and discuss topics in a constructive way. Strangely, I find younger Indian members are much more conservative than some older Indian members. This phenomenon is totally opposite to their counterparts in any major countries. 21th century India will not be prosperous with an ideology that belongs to the middle ages.

@Joe Shearer, please stay here, so many people will benefit from your point of view. Some people do think even they appear aggressive and abusive sometime.

I like sci-fi, mostly hard sci-fi like stuff from Neal Stephenson, Kim Robinson, Alastair Reynolds and ilk but sometimes get the Z fix too. Last good book i read on that was World War Z.

As for post apocalyptic stuff - Wool is fantastic and if you want a classic then the The Road by Cormac McCarthy is good
thanks bro, me not much into reading books though:( watched the movie adaptation of 'The Road' Vigo Mortensen did a class act, 'world war Z' movie was okey too, looking forward to the sequel now, bro recommend me some tv series or movies, have u read the graphic novel 'The Strain' by master director Guillermo del toro? which was latter adapted as a tv series

Sarthak, I follow his posts regularly. I do not agree at all. If the poster disagreeing with him possess a good grip on what he/she is talking about, Joe is an excellent read. 'Superstitious nonsense'!! Again I disagree. In 2012, just after joining this forum he referred me an excellent book on Indian mythologies. Superstitious nonsense does not make one interested to read such classy writings.

Refusal to reform? What for and beyond whom? Those who defended Babri and Dadri? You must be joking!!

I think it is the otherwise. If people stop thinking like him, sooner or later we will turn into a society where blind faith instead of reasoning will dominate the political decisions, the academic institutions and may even the Science congress.

Subho bijoya to you and family. You are catching up the accent very quickly. :p:
Well, his expertise in Hinduism is not really my concern. Robert Spencer, I am sure, has read a lot about Islam. He can also count as a legitimate critic. But he is not. But religion is besides the point. I don't mind his religious stand.

The only problem is his way of responding. It is totally inappropriate.

Anyway the sneaking away part usually follows a crime :D

I mostly into novels but branching off to TV too as I find myself with loads of time to spare. The thing is Netflix and Hulu don't work in India so it's tough to get the latest shows.
