There are a large number of religions in the World.
Islam is in conflict with most of them and there are a lot of violent actions.
The violent conflicts between most other religions are rare nowadays.
The conflict between Catholicism and Protestantism in Ireland beeing the last I can remember.
As pointed out, there is no central authority in Islam, so Muslims act in different ways.
A significant portion of Muslims interpret the Quran in ways that encourage violent attacks
on non Muslims sometimes for no other reason than they are infidels.
This was the motivation behind the Stockholm attack.
The process of radicalizing from being a Muslim only in name, to a Jihadist can take only a few weeks.
The Jihadists here are often second or third generation immigrants that starts of with
a life in petty crime, and meet someone that promises them to be the "top dog"
instead of the "underdog".
Accepting Muslim immigrants can definitely be seen as inviting trouble.
If only one in a hundred Muslims commits a terrorist act it is still unacceptable.
Before the recent London attacks, local Muslims informed the police about their suspicions,
so the perpetrators were already known, but was never actioned on.
I do not think anyone has proven that there is any significant benefit in accepting
a Muslim immigrant over a non Muslim immigrant.
That is needed to offset the obvious drawbacks.
Even if a radical Muslim is not violent, some exhibit unacceptable behaviour towards Women.
Muslims attack people verbally for engaging in singing and dancing.
Racist attacks on local jews.
Attacks on Muslims with a different interpretation of Islam.
There are plenty of reasons why people may think that Muslims are simply not worth the trouble.

A
phobia is a type of
anxiety disorder, defined by a persistent fear of an object or situation.
[1] The phobia typically results in a rapid onset of fear and is present for more than six months. The affected person will go to great lengths to avoid the situation or object, typically to a degree greater than the actual danger posed. If the feared object or situation cannot be avoided, the affected person will have significant
distress. With blood or injury phobia,
fainting may occur.
[1] Agoraphobia is often associated with
panic attacks.
[6] Usually a person has phobias to a number of objects or situations.

-------
Some people believe that exposure to the thing the phobia is about will help.
That may not always be the case.
Walking around with a bottle of nitroglycerin would make most people uncomfortable,
and would cause persistent fear, a wish to get rid of the bottle and distress,
possible panic attacks.
More exposure to nitroglycerin is not really helpful.
