Prem Chopra, the third of six children of Ranbir Lal and Rooprani Chopra, a Punjabi Hindu family, was born on 23 September 1935, in Lahore. After the painful partition of India, his family moved to Shimla.He still remembers every corner of Lahore.
This house is situated in Gawal Mandi area in the middle of Lahore city. One side Railway Station Lahore , others side Mayo Hospital.

It was a gateway to the City of Gardens for transport coming from Gujranwala side through GT Road. Vehicles had to pay a certain amount in toll tax as per their size. 'Welcome to Lahore' and 'Goodbye' used to be written on top of the opposite top sides. New toll plaza was built after the year 2000 but the toll tax was abolished.
