Why do we recognize East Pakistan (Bangladesh)?

It disapproves and discourages similar behavior. A state is a serious business unlike cricket. China will take Taiwan back as they are defending Hong Kong now.
Take taiwan back
F-16180 + 66 F+16V block70/72+ ordered
Mirage 2000 44
FC1K 100+
And lots of SAM

Look at Serbia which doesn't recognize Kosovo. China doesn't recognize Taiwan. DPRK doesn't recognize Seoul. We recognized East Pakistan aka Bangladesh under pressures from imperialist powers and yet, we did not receive anything in return but lies and hatred for generations. I am sure that our shameless politicians will not hesitate to recognize any breakaway part in the future. Shame !

There are two histories: The official history, mendacious, which is given to us; and the secret history, where you find the real causes of events, a shameful history.”

– Honoré de Balzac

It should not have happened in the first place, East Pakistan always held back the West due to its endemic poverty and seasonal flooding disasters.

It was difficult to form a cohesive national identity as long as Bengalis were part of Pakistan and insisted on a Hindu origin culture and language. When Islamization failed, then it was inevitable that we would need to part ways.

I take it as a big blessing. We can concentrate on Kashmir and Afghanistan. Everything to the East of our border is worthless to us and a different, self-destructive, enemy culture.

Accepting Bangladesh was the right thing to do as it normalized relations between the Muslim world and Bangladesh, as they refused to recognize it until Pakistan did. Even if they are different than us, they are still fellow Muslims.

Plus we wanted our political prisoners back from India.

East Pakistan's separation was inevitable; they were separated by thousands of miles sea, surrounded by a hostile nation and had distinct languages, culture, history, ethnic groups, etc...

Religion can bind people to an extent, but it would be naive to consider it the sole fabric of national unity. Learn from our mistakes and move on.

I was only saying that Taiwanese air force is as strong as pak one ....
Understood. Military prowess can only be effective once it is mixed with the right politics. There is a broad concensus among military experts that war is only an extension of politics. Nothing more.

Interesting question indeed - why recognize E Pakistan as Bangladesh?

Interesting question indeed - why recognize E Pakistan as Bangladesh?

1. We are culturally different. Their language and dialect, practices are so different, there is no commonality.

2. They are literally separated from us by a huge land mass called India.

3. It's the past. Move on. Stop trying to create enemies where you don't even have enemies.

4. We don't want them back. Most Pakistanis don't. They are doing good on there own, and keeping in mind the distance and cultural distinction, we don't want them.

Now before you call them traitors... i mean what choice did they have. We did wrong them.

If you ever get the chance, see what Musharraf had said about it.

Thanks I know what you have written. But I am saying is that You can still do all of above without recognizing them. You can ignore them definitely, but why recognize them and then have diplomatic relations with them? You said yourself they are unimportant. Then why have diplomatic relations with them? Anyways it too late to change anything but it is not too late to cut off any diplomatic relations with them.

What benefit will that give us?
If anything it will make us look like the bad guy.

again, lets just ignore them. They are not even a regional player so whats the point of even thinking about them?

The truth is how demarcation happened and how nonly 2 of states defined out of partition was wrong in first place.Kashmir,Hyderabad,Junagadh,NEastern Indian states and other territories should have been sovereign countries..but Gay Lord Mountbatten ruined it by only allowing states to join india or Pakistan.Bangladesh would have rather stayed as an independent country back then if it had choice.

Because in the end they're also Muslims. We have a common adversary who does not desire our independence.

Buile bridges, don't burn them.

Jinnah had offered them independence i think but there was infighting between bengali leaders so they joined as east pakistan.

Don't quote me on this, i have only heard, i don't know. Could be a lie.
