I always took them as people that were tricked by India.

Pakistan’s recognition may have been terms of of ending the conflict but I don’t many Pakistanis worry about losing Bangladesh.

The recognition of East Pakistan was done way too quick. It was not done in a responsible manner by the politicians who were in power. China knew, that at some stage, they may be in a position to take Taiwan back. But that is not the case here. Pakistan knew well that from now on Bangladesh can never become part of Pakistan.

How did they know ? There was never a referendum took place in East Pakistan on that specific issue. The biggest mistake was to move away from Two nation theory by letting ethnicity taking hold. I blame British sponsored politicians. Our failure in Kashmir did not come as a surprise.
