Why do pakistani and bngledshi restaurants label themselves as Indian restaurants?

That's not entirely true. Most Pakistani restaurants in England are very open, blunt and proud of their roots. They usually refer themselves as 'Eastern Cuisine'. To name a few;

There's nothing discreet about their names, just by reading them you'd know they're Pakistani lol. They bluntly name themselves in Pakistani names.

Bro the indians on this thread taking some sort of joy from some restaurants generalising their food and calling it Indian, have actually never step foot outside India and dont get how the real world works.

You can tell a restaurant is Pakistani/Bengali or Indian by just asking if they serve halal meat, its not rocket science.

The branding of the restaurant is changing now to eastern,Pakistani, Bengali etc but the they will still be listed under the 'Indian' sub heading

Basmati Rice is a Several Centuries old Product

It has been grown in South Asia for several centuries now

That's not true at all. Most Indians I know will never eat at pakistani or bd restaurant. We usually check on Zomato, the restaurant site, or ask who the chief is before sitting down.

What a pathetic and racist response.

Anyway...

In the UK we do call food from the Indian subcontinent as "Indian" however we understand that the establishment is probably not Indian....most probably Bengali or Pakistani.

Most of the places in the UK are also halal and so we don't have a problem with that...its just a name for crying out loud.

I'm from Yorkshire some famous "indian" restarsunts here are called:

Mumtaaz
Lahore
Kashmir restaurant
Nawabs
Karachi

to name but a few so they are hardly pretending to be actual Indians now are they?

indians churn out expat workers like a chinese factory, so naturally indian diaspora is bound to be bigger than pakistani in any given country (except maybe uk). hence to attract that huge potential customer base they use the term indian for marketing. the trend is changing these days though, here in qatar pakistani restaurants have finally started to open up with the label of 'authentic pakistani cuisine'.

i guess quality is always better than quawantity and indian origin hindus & sikhs have much much more spending power than muslim pakistanies in UK am i wrong and im talking in terms of large middle class (working class professionals in blue collar jobs & upcoming enerprnours & indian origin indusrialists)
