"Talk to me in a decent language .. How dare you talk to me in Punjabi .."
She has insulted 120 million Punjabis
But yah bechari SM pe viral ho gai. A lot of Punjabi people do consider Punjabi language to be indecent.. Hamaray haan to Beaconhouse jaisay schools notifications issue kertay hain Punjabi ko vulgar language bataty hain and no one seems to bother

When in Punjab, do what a Punjabi does. Punjabi is the natural language of the soil, the heartbeat of Pakistan. You are welcome to speak any language in Punjab you like but don't say that Punjabi is indecent. Rural Punjabis are among the people with biggest heart you will ever find elsewhere.

Agreed he should talk in urdu if u dont than dont complain about sindhis

OK, only now I have watched the video, couldn't watch when I was in office. I read few comments which suggested that policeman said something bad in Punjabi.. and the language wasn't the problem, it was a particular word that pissed the woman off..

But after watching the video, I believe she deserves the kind of disrespect she is getting on social media. Probably police didn't say anything.. she was just doing a drama to get away from a fine.

Punjabi is indeed a beautiful language..

Of course, I am a urdu speaker and everyone likes his own language, but after Urdu, I like Punjabi.. (I am not including Arabic as it is Quranic language and shouldn't be compared with any language of the world).

Punjabi is one of the best languages if not the best.. Don't know why Punjabis are not promoting this language.. It should be taught in Schools in Punjab and people who discourage its use should be discouraged.
Inferiority complex.
In a lot of people's minds Punjabi is associated with the village and Urdu with the city.
Urdu is our national language and everyone shoould be conversant in it but Punjabi's abandoning their mother tongue for Urdu is a particular bugbear of mine.

Totally agree often times when I’m speaking Punjabi (my mother tounge) Some relatives are like it’s not professional, thinking it’s a village language. I then bust out more Punjabj during a wedding or gathering, some Auntis act as if I deflowered their daughter or something.

I have seen Pakistani Punjabi’s aren’t as proud of their language as Sikhs. Punjabi is a masculine language — It attracts all Desi women if used by the right man.

Damn right you are. :D

It wouldn't even be so bad if they were fluent in Urdu.
Most of them speak a hybrid, comic, pidgin version of Urdu/Punjabi which only goes to highlight their illiteracy.

That often happens when your forced to learn Urdu and you end up mixing the two diluting the language.

They can be forced to learn it at school but what is forcing them to attempt to converse in it in their day to day lives?

Don't know --
I guess everyone wants to be a Mujra like Bilawal.

Now we WILL bother, the time to be "politically correct" is gone, any one who insults our language must always get a befitting answer.

Punjabi is a beautiful language Alhamdulillah.

In fact all Pakistani ethnic languages are beautiful and culturally rich Alhamdulillah. We should preserve our languages and teach them to the generations succeeding us.

Parhe likke jahil of Pakistan believe that languages determine a person's worth and how civilized they are, instead of upbringing and how they treat others.

True high culture is acceptance of and honoring those who are different than you and treating even the most poor and marginalized with respect and izzat. Something you see in Pakistan every day.

They want to act like Westerners, atleast adopt their best attributes, not their worst.

However, traditional Islamic culture is far superior in social interactions and erasing barriers between people.

I have seen Pakistani Punjabi’s aren’t as proud of their language as Sikhs.

Even Sikh Punjabi is a bastardized form of Punjabi, and their culture and national consciousness is based on historical revisionism and fabrications.

Sikh unjustified overactive ego is not to be idolized. If anyone has the right to have that ego, it is Muslims, but we are generally humble and accepting people.

I'm particularly very fond of my own Faisalabadi Teyth Punjabi.

It is solely because of Urdu. Urdu ( which was spoken by Hindus and Muslims of UP and Dehli and which had nothing to do with Muslims of Pakistan and especially Punjab) was imposed on us by the British and that colonial tradition still lives even today. British wanted to remove Dari/Farsi as the lingua franca of this region and replace it with this language.

Unfortunately Punjabis have been hurt the most because of the imposition of this language. Our culture, history, heritage, language is being destroyed by the imposition of Urdu language. A Pathan, Sindhi, Balochi learns Urdu in school/madrasa. Only in Punjab (in cities) Urdu is taught in homes. The only solution lies in teaching Punjabi in schools as a compulsory subject.

It would be good to make mandatory every provincial language (atleast at introductory level) throughout the country. Elevating the status of languages would help in the study and propagation of said languages. I would include basic Quranic Arabic (Fus7a) and Dari as well.

We should strive to academically empower the traditional languages of Pakistan, so that people seen in that video would be obsolete.

I am glad that Pakistan is shifting more to national consciousness after years of provincialism. We should unite our country further.
