What Does the United States Get from its Relationship with Israel?

EisenstadtPollock_FriendsWith_2000.jpg

“Israel's contribution to US military intelligence is greater than all NATO countries combined.”General Keegan, former chief of US Air Force Intelligence, asserted that “the scope of intelligence gained by the US from Israel is equal to five CIAs.” -- Senator Daniel Inouye

US special operations forces are trained in Israel in battle tactics and counter-terrorism experience.Israeli experience played a role in defeating terrorists in Iraq's “Sunni Triangle.” --Brig. General Michael Vane
Israel's destruction of a nuclear factory in Syria in 2007 and Iraq in 1981dealt serious deterrence to the anti-Western Syria-Iran-North Korea axis.

By destroying Soviet surface to air missiles in 1982, Israel was able to share information on tactics and technological information vital to the US military and defense industries. During the Cold War, Israel transferred to the US captured Soviet combat aircraft, radar and other military systems

Israel saved the Kingdom of Jordan from being invaded and taken over by Syria's Assad regime in 1970, avoiding a dramatic setback to US national security.

“Israel is the largest, most battle-tested and cost-effective US aircraft carrier, which does not require even one American soldier, cannot be sunk and is located in a critical region for American national security and economic interests. If Israel did not exist – the US would have to deploy a few additional aircraft carriers to the Mediterranean, along with tens of thousands of military personnel, costing the US taxpayers $20BN annually and dragging the US into additional regional and international confrontations.” -- the late General Alexander Haig, who was the Supreme Commander of NATO and US Secretary of State

Israel's purchases and deployment of new military technologies and systems, some of which are jointly developed, contribute to US national security, employment, research & development and exports to other allies. In addition, Israel is a battle-proven laboratory.

Israel's high tech industries and US subsidiaries have been instrumental in revolutionizing computing, telecommunication, medicine, nanotechnology, energy and water efficiencies that contributed to the booms of the 1990s and 2000s in the US.

Israel is the US ally that spies on it the most, it sales US technologies to Russia and China and thus stays on good side with them. The recent block on the sale of S-300 defence system shows exactly the influence Israel gets for selling those techs. Israel shot down the USS Liberty in 1967 over International waters, killing 34 crew and guess who apologized for the incident, the US.

Israel acts as a carrier in a critical region and where exactly might that region be, near Europe. US has bases in countries closer to Iran to counter Iran and Iran is inaccessible from Israel as it's fighters can't make a return journey and there are several airspaces it needs to cross before reaching that of Iran's.

Most of "joint" military projects are developed in US and send to Israel for testing and Israeli contractors take the claim that they developed it and tested it. They than give Israeli contractors contracts to make parts of the jet as they make it "cheaper" and FYI $100 million for a jet that can't even clock 2000 km/h neither can take-off or land vertically isn't CHEAP.

Also the US give $3 billion to Israel in direct foreign aid and another $12-17 billion in indirect foreign aid such as valuable military equipment deemed “scrapped,” loan guarantees, and preferential contracts.

What is wrong if US supports Isreal on the basis of religion?...If Muslims can go against Isreal just because Isreal has conflict with Muslims of Palestine, then in the same way, Christian and Jews are just responding to the same way as Muslims....In my opinion, if any thing that has hurt Palestine cause to max extent rather than the solution is the same Islamic nations who just shouts in the name of Palestine but they do nothing about the country...In one hand, these Muslim nations shout against Isreal so as to keep domentic audience happy but in real diplomacy they does little to solve the humanatarian issue of Palestine...

What is wrong if US supports Isreal on the basis of religion?

This has nothing to do with discussion. But, what is wrong with it? Goes against secular foundation of US which would upset Americans the most.

...If Muslims can go against Isreal just because Isreal has conflict with Muslims of Palestine

Stop bringing religion into this. Palestinians are Palestinians, whether they be Christian or Muslim. Reported for using term 'Muslims' which makes no absolute sense. Reported for false assertion as well. Supporting the Palestinian cause is not a Muslim one, it is an international one. The support/sympathy is done out of good reasons and is just. There is no blind support of Palestinians, on contrary most support to Israel is blind support due to people like yourself who hate all Muslims.

Secondly, I prefer we keep Muslims out of this since the region does not contain all Muslims. You are stupid, look at the diverse Arab nations in the region. Most Arab nations have commercial/political/security ties with Israel and two major ones have peace treaties. All Arab states are ready for Israel to quit making excuses and come forward to peace table to finally make peace. The only thing delaying peace is the US/Israel.

, then in the same way, Christian and Jews are just responding to the same way as Muslims....

Not all Christians and Jews share same views or get along just as not all Muslims do.

Yeh, this is technically correct...But American people should also understand that they are living in an imperfect world, where some section of this world, think religion is the ultimate goad of life...And if any one has to deal with them, you have to play the game as your oppsition plays rather than being crushed out by the opponent trying to be so honest and good in the war...So American might be thinking that to become what they are, they have to trade a path which is not always right...And that is exactly what they are doing it wrt Isreal..

Picture says a thousand words:

Only one country voted against it. Guess who?

Fact that worth thousands pages. There are 2 UN organizations dealing with refugees:

UNRWA - which deals with Palestinian refugees only.
UNHCR - which deals with all other refugees from all other countries combined.

secular foundation of US.

@Nihonjin1051 - You've got to be kidding me !

You support Israel as well ! :(

You can't really blame him.

He is a decent poster but, like most people under the spell of the Zionist-dominated global media, he has been brainwashed by getting 99.9999% pro-Israeli propaganda for every 0.0001% of pro-Palestinian propaganda.

On top of that, he is good friends with some of the most vile Jewish racists on this forum.

If a bunch of whites decided to colonize a distant land and throw out the natives, we would call it racial colonialism.

When Nazis decided that the good of the Aryan race justified all means, it was condemned.

But when racist Jews do it, one must walk on eggshells and give them special privileges denied to everyone else on the planet.

What is wrong if US supports Isreal on the basis of religion?

Because such religious animosity is not inherent in the American psyche.

For every Christian and Muslim working towards interfaith reconciliation, there are ten pro-Israeli propagandists exacerbating tensions and inflaming inter-religious rivalry, in their strategy to portray Israel's enemies as the world's enemies.

America has never supported anyone on the basis of religion, America supported Israel since it acted as an outpost of the first world in the Middle-East and thus was a more or less reliant ally in the region.

You've probably noticed that unlike the Nazis I'm both truthful and accurate. As for the "fair and unbiased" bit, you've noticed I don't engage in false equivalences, like saying both Israelis and Arabs are to blame for this-and-that. 'Cause if the Jews of Israel laid down their arms today, they'd be dead tomorrow, whereas if the Arabs did the same, there would be peace.

One of the hardest things for me here is to put my point across without sounding like a pompous a$$. I'm sure I'm failing. If you can suggest a better approach I'm all ears.
wrong on so many levels, why do arab nations have to lay down their arms while Israel gets armed to the teeth? Your argument is that Israel has been attacked many times? Why is that? because its land taken from natives and made into a colonial apartheid state. Get of your high horse no one buys into ur bullshit, The last thing Arabs need to do is disarm themselves, Otherwise their just sheep waiting to be slaughtered by a colonial apartheid state. Not going to let that happen. Your idea of "peace" is a fucking joke.

Sorry but its YOU who is living on stolen land of native people who were genocided. Not me.

Despite that Palestine is in a better position today than it ever was in the 70s.
Palestine is in a better position today, so is Israel.
The only people who are worse off are the Hamas and other terrorist organizations. The world today has no patience for mujahideen or jihadis or whatever is the latest flavour of the year. There was patience for these types earlier under the statement 'one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter'. No indulgence now.

Today Israeli's are the natives of that land.

Let us be honest ...It is not like every Muslims are religious fanatics..Of course..hell no...I can see very good and rational people in PDF itself who understands the gravity of the situation...But the challenge for Muslims of US is different...The rational and moderate voice get drowned and helpless in front of few radical elements...That is the issue...Your good people in your religion does not have a voice in front of racist people...As long as the balance of the opinion in Muslim community does not tilt towards moderate people and moderate nations amongst Muslim world, the trust deficit will remain the same....

How do you define 'moderate'?

If the vast majority of Muslims demanded that people in some distant land be thrown out of their homes to create room for migrating Muslims to create a 'Muslim State', would that be a 'moderate' stance or an 'extremist' one?

Yet Zionist fanatics (of various faiths) have manged to portray the racist Jewish colonization of Palestine as a legitimate enterprise, and the people opposing this racist endeavor are painted as fanatics.

The point I am making is that there is nothing racist or extremist about opposing Israel. It is Israel which is the racist and extremist element in the equation.

I am limiting my comment to the Israel-Palestine issue, since the wider point you are making will lead to a much bigger discussion.

Well that happened in Kosovo for example. Serbs were cleansed and all the world applaud.

You are living on stolen land. Nevertheless if someone will say that you should pack back to Pakistan and give your house to native Australians he obviously will be a fanatic extremist.

I live on lands which were legally bought. Nevertheless Hamas still wants to expel me. But according to you they are not fanatics and simply nice guys.
