Israel is the US ally that spies on it the most, it sales US technologies to Russia and China and thus stays on good side with them. The recent block on the sale of S-300 defence system shows exactly the influence Israel gets for selling those techs. Israel shot down the USS Liberty in 1967 over International waters, killing 34 crew and guess who apologized for the incident, the US.

Israel acts as a carrier in a critical region and where exactly might that region be, near Europe. US has bases in countries closer to Iran to counter Iran and Iran is inaccessible from Israel as it's fighters can't make a return journey and there are several airspaces it needs to cross before reaching that of Iran's.
Most of "joint" military projects are developed in US and send to Israel for testing and Israeli contractors take the claim that they developed it and tested it. They than give Israeli contractors contracts to make parts of the jet as they make it "cheaper" and FYI $100 million for a jet that can't even clock 2000 km/h neither can take-off or land vertically isn't CHEAP.
Also the US give $3 billion to Israel in direct foreign aid and another $12-17 billion in indirect foreign aid such as valuable military equipment deemed “scrapped,” loan guarantees, and preferential contracts.
