What about jf-17 for bangladesh airforce?

.
Great news if BAF will buy this aircraft.....this aircraft is really showing its wings in its early stage....and i am pretty sure in future, when it will be more developed and modernized, it will come to compare with F16 very soon....As JF-17 has ability to adopt modifications.

If the present BD govt wants to buy it, the purchase will be probably from China instead of Pakistan. So be it. But, with a price tag of $15 million this plane with sophisticated avionics is much more worthy than its price. However, the only drawback is that this plane is not yet battle tested.

.
Anybody confirm with source that JF-17 is on market with flyaway cost of 15 million (including weapons+radar)

.
I think this is a best deal. You get fighter plane at very cheap rate. around 15-18 Million USD.

.
Jf17 is good platform for BD but their are some doubts about that plane

I think if China induct them in their airforce its really boost export opportunity for Jf17

.
The price per air craft depends upon what the buyer wants to acquire ... I mean with RD93 or WS-13 and avionics as its a modular aircraft ... it may cost around 12 to 15 M$ ... for those who thinks J-10 more suited to BAF then their is no price comparison as JFT is available at almost half a price ... but in case of buying them both ... they become a lethal combination ...

well about those who said its not war proven ... then please stick to 3rd Gen techs ...

@ DRDO please elaborate ...

and IMHO JFT is actually a requirement of PAF ... if it fulfill the requirements of PLAAF then they will buy it but in addition they are not short of budget with openly having other options on the table which never decrease the significance of JFT with its features above all BANG for BUCK$...

well if it is made basically of PAF needs and suits countries under such kind of situation............ i don,t think it suits chinese needs..........

Majority of planes in defense market aren't battle tested yet they have been sold.

.
I had the same comments as Sir Amigo.
It is not only a economical and defence trade, but also will enrich the love between the two countries, after the bitter 71.
I suggest giving a bit discount around 2-5% in total as these are our own men :)

PLAAF is going for JF-17 (or FC-1 according to their designation ) .Initially they didn't want to go with Jf-17's rather they wanted J-10's in large numbers to replace all their obsolete aircrafts but then watching the performance of jf-17 in PAF inventory they now have decided to go for Jf-17's .I have already posted here affirmation of this from credible sources also i had posted a video in one of the threads related to jf-17,in that video Chinese official/analyst himself admitted that after seeing the performance of jf-17 PLAAF wants to induct it .

I hope now you will not come up with same thing again because every indian member had same query and everyone have been answered many times by members .

.
Well I've read in another forum that the budget would go towards a complete AD system (due to the small area). Therefore Jf-17(Fc-1) is really a good option right now. Will post the details later on .

Hi eastwatch!

Though I have replied to your query about the idea of "battle tested" in a similar thread some while ago... but it seems I need to refresh my thoughts by re-posting it here... not necessarily for you but others members too...

The concept of battle proven does not apply any more. This phenomenon, worked out very well in the past, up till early nineties. In today's rapidly changing world, new advancements are tacking place and the Technological Universe is going nuts. Each day new technologies are developed and applied . These Technologies even don't serve a quarter of their perceived lives as new one arrives and make them insignificant if not obsolete. The rate at which this is happening is Alarmingly high. A good example of this annoying situation is to note how Britain is feeling the heat for its Euro fighter as JSF is knocking on the door. Turkey also turned down The Mighty Euro fighter offer seeing JSF was already there. Similarly France and its Rafael is also a victim of this merciless reality.Plenty of more examples if one looks arround.

Regarding the issue where JF-17 has to prove its battle worthiness is applicable as much to Euro fighter, Rafael and Gripen and Every other Fighter that is new born and has not performed in a war, first hand.
Euro fighter and Rafael taking part in WoT in Afghanistan does not prove their battle worthiness, They have yet to face their match, where their actual strengths and weaknesses would be determined.

I don't agree with this phenomenon, not any more, despite of the fact that its significance in the past cannot be ignored. Where in Air war a fighter and its pilot were the only determinants on the out come. these days all that have changed, No more close combat, dogfights, To many variables have joined in, from new generations of BVRAAM, to Long range SAMs, From AWACS searching and tracking to hundreds of miles to effective ECM solutions, From satellite navigation to effective data links, etc ,etc. due the emergence of these new variables the concept of "battle proven" has lost its significance.

In the modern times, the winner of wars will be decided who have most of these variables and who is going to use them effectively and not on basis of a platform and performance in the past alone.

Could you please describe what kind of situation Pakistan or PAF is, and is the situation in BD is not same as that in Pakistan?
