Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday said all the world powers including United States (US) were making India potent against Pakistan by supplying arms, ARY News reported.

“Our foreign policy has not failed because we do not solely rely on America,” he said while addressing a ceremony regarding Youm-e-Takbeer in Sialkot.

The minister lamented that US and other world powers were providing arms to India, while F-16 jets and military aid to Pakistan was being blocked despite its uncountable sacrifices in the war on terror.

Commenting on US drone strike in Noshki, Balochistan, Asif said the attack sabotaged Afghan peace process. “Afghanistan is still unstable as it was before 9/11,” he said.

He slammed that Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah, sitting back in Afghanistan, orchestrates massacre of innocent children in Pakistan, but the US takes no action against him.

This should be noted here that F-16 deal is said to have expired amid Pakistan-US row over finances. U.S. had said it would not be financing the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan after the U.S. Congress went against deal. In return, Pakistan said it will acquire jets from elsewhere if the US did not fund the purchase.

The relations between the two countries have got tensed since the US apparently violated Pakistan’s air space and killed Taliban chief Mullah Mansour Akhtar in Noshki, near Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The defence minister said had Pakistan not been an atomic power, the world would not have let Pakistanis live.

Good for domestic consumption .Still they are likes to live in lala land.
What is there for domestic consumption? Has the US not offered top of the line hardware to India? Nobody is debating in the US congress of use of those weapons against Pakistan but on the other hand a handful of F-16s suddenly become a threat for India.
Defense minister is on point here.

At least the current PMLN government raises the problems Pakistan has with the US even if they do not follow through... this wasn't even an option with PPPP with hussain haqqani as ambassador and the freeing of Raymond Davis. PPPP may be the most anti national party in the history of Pakistan. When asked on PTV about the Samjhauta express attacks which were done by Indian fanatics the PM Yousuf Raza Gillani commented that he did not believe in conspiracy theories even though Indian courts had declared Samjhauta express a Sadhvi Pragya and Purohit sponsored event.

It is my hope that PPPP is totally crushed and never comes to power again. I think the only real party that has patriots are PTI with Shireen Mazari and Shah Mehmood Qureshi though I condemn the fact that they do not have a solid or equal policy against terrorism by the Taliban with Imran Khan sympathetic to them.

that is just a talking point, just optics, sprinklings, if you will.. the real issue with the F-16s is US taxpayer money subsidizing them. The Indian lobby just did what lobbyists do, this was well played by them.

For the rest, India is viewed largely as a benevolent regional power by the US, with Pakistan, its much more complicated, and you know the reasons for it being so..

Overall though, get used to it, India is the new flavor of the month/year/decade... globally. The good news for Pakistan is that India has no territorial ambition or plans for religious conquest of either the whole or parts of Pakistan.

India has to expand it's military to protect the economic engine, we have no choice, so this is not very different from the Chinese build up in that sense. Pakistan will, as a response also ramp up it's minimum deterrent capability, and that's all that is needed, no point bitching about us having bigger, better, greater in number toys.

India is willing to pay full amount for its purchases. Money talks my friend.

If Pakistan decides to pay full amount of the F-16 Jet Fighters, it will get them.

. .
keep in mind also that it is an election year in the US, neither party, the incumbent president, or the opposition controlled congress will do anything to give the other side any ammo.

What's the logic here ??? Whole world is against Pakistan ???? Except brother in North ???

It's a business. They have goods and India has requirement. Simple economics. Instead of cursing everybody improve your economy and you can race too. Pakistan lose USA's AID the day OBL killed next to your army installations

And remembers USA show no hid to Indian protest on Teen sale. They want money and you don't have it or don't wana pay. Either way fail

Even India don't have enough money to check to do list so we are improvising so should you

Contention is not offered but armed, what has the US and world power armed India with? Usually the term arming someone refers to as giving someone arms, In India's case, there is a drive to modernize it's armed forces with a nominal percentage of it's GDP. Even in the coldwar days USSR did not arm India, but allowed India to purchase weapon systems from them, and lets not forget so did, France and rest of Europe at the peak of cold war. The only exception was the US which has changed it's policy post Clinton. No one is arming India, everyone is open to India buying or collaborating with them in the sphere of defense equipment.

None of these purchases are being paid by the taxpayers of US,France, Israel or Russia, hence the comparison with your 8f16's has zero relevance. My contention from day 1 was being a US tax payer, why should I subsidize Pakistan's defensive requirements.

I don't understand why Pakistanis aren't doing what India and China did back in 80s.

Bartering agricultural products for Arms instead of money, India bartered Sugarcane for Soviet fighters back then

Only the late 1990s India started paying by $s.

Do remember we did pay the full amount in the 90s only to be sanctioned latter and neither got the jets nor the money. The question here is not the money but the double standards.
I can point you towards another more recent showcase of double standard, a week ago maybe two US were discussing nuclear with Pakistan and that happened right after India tested its new sub marine based weapons. Its one policy for India and completely another for Pakistan. US pushing for India to be fully brought into the NSG while keeping Pakistan out, this has nothing to do with money but the double standards.

And just why not after all we learned it from our great neighbour.

Your contention in this case does not matter sire, the contention of India as a state is what really matters and even if the F-16s were to be completely paid by Pakistan, India would have moan, bitch the same. Not every thing that Pakistan buys is a direct result of so called subsidizing but the reaction from across the border remains the same. Remember how India tried to block the sale of RD-93 engines for JF-17? None of them were coming subsidized or anything of that sort.
