Urdu not on PMO’s website, is it another attempt to do away with anything Muslim

There are far more Urdu speakers in India than Punjabi.
But Punjabi is listed whereas Urdu is missing.
Why being unfair to Urdu?

Spoken Urdu and Spoken Hindi are mostly similar,

And since it is a website, so there text communication hence you need to find out how many are Urdu readers and not Urdu speakers.

Nobody speaks urdu in india now, even in uttar pradesh muslims speak hindi, the nastaliq script has moved to pakistan and ll live there.

There ll be no urdu in india.

Maybe is a very loose term to be used, I can use the very same term to speak the other way round. May be the government didn't really wanted Urdu to be in there, may be BJP is doing votebank politics since we have forthcoming elections in Gujarat and Punjab.

So is that not the right thing to do since Urdu is spoken more widely across India?

Now you are making assumptions, Infact I can point many Urdu speakers who have graduated from Urdu medium colleges where though English was taught, it was taught as third language and many among them are not be able to read/write/speak English properly. And the point of concern is how does Gujarati and Punjabi languages take precedence over Urdu. Is it not reasonable to add Urdu prior to adding Gujarati/Punjabi as there are more Urdu speakers compared to the one's I've mentioned

Urdu is not an administrative language of india, lucknow hyderabad or delhi, hindi is the language of everyone.anyone wants urdu, they can go live in pakistan.

Even Roybot had the same thing to say, I believe that most of your friends are convent/English medium educated(same could be the case with Roybot), but there are many(poor/lower middle class) who go to urdu medium schools(Both in UP and Telangana) and I know quite a few of them in both the states.

Yeah they are free to study any language but administratively it is hindi, english or regional languages only in india.

Urdu is such a nice language. Why did they corrupted it with Sanskrit to make it look pro-Hindu? Hard to crack Sanskrit words desecrated Hindustani or Urdu.

This party coming back to power is not good for India. I hope BJP and RSS ends by forthcoming Loksabha elections. If not, time for minorities to face violence and genocide. The RSS fan club will be also happy to see Infidels-mukth India.

There is no language called urdu by itself, just use central asian words in normal north indian prakrit and it becomes urdu. Anyway pakistan ll keep urdu, sanskrit is our language.

"Best Urdu Speech" is not the best example of what average Urdu sounds like, just like a speech in shuddh Hindi is not the best example of what an average Hindi speaker sounds like. And even then let me tell you that I understood about 90% of what that girl was saying!
There is nothing like shuddh hindi or shuddh urdu, average hindi or average urdu. It is we people who add up English or some of our regional wordings/dialects to hindi or urdu that make them average hindi/urdu.

Yes they studied Urdu at school for 5 years, we had the option of studying Sanskrit/Urdu/Foreign Language. They obviously remember the aliph ae be te, but they don't know remember enough to do anything useful with it, like translate an Urdu document. If you don't use something on a regular basis, you tend to forget it.

Can you read/write Urdu?
So basically this exercise of learning urdu was more of a formality, you can't compare them with people for whom Urdu was a basic medium for academics or communication.

Then why did vote hungry Modi launch the Urdu website during 2014 general election?
The motive was to attract Urdu speaking people's votes.

Go and dump your horse manure somewhere else, not here.

What is the PMO criteria then on this?
Do you know of any factor?

No...but it is very much clear that BJP does not feel much inclined towards Islamic language to celebrate it. As there is no specific criteria defined to choose from the list, so they might have used it for their own advantage.

Great, replying to a logical argument with off topic news

Topic is "Urdu not in PMO website "
Let me repeat, website means text based communication.
So there are a lot of Urdu speaker (Including me), but very few who can read, write and understand Arabic script .

Let me help you, there are reports on the news paper circulation, there you will find number of readers of various print media, do some math, make a table (readers/ lang) and you yourself will realise why Urdu is not there. All languages on PMO website have much more circulation than Urdu.

Among all languages on PMO Oriya is least circulated, however Oriya circulation is 4 times that of Urdu circulation. @takeiteasy @The_Showstopper @Kaniska

Assamese news paper circulation is 2.5 times Urdu circulation, its not there on PMO web, but some people doesn't miss a chance to evaluate stuff from communal point of view

Please donot quote me unless you have logic, data, facts to prove your argument.
And do research before posting CRAP.

Though I am sorry to have ruffled your feathers by posting the relevant stats.

Urdu newspapers are third largest in circulation

Number of readers matter not number of different news paper. Its an article from a random newspaper. no one else has reported it.

You googled there were 10 links, only one favored your argument and you pasted it without researching on source.
Do some more research :P

I am sure you will get the right numbers :)

@ashok321 this will help :)

The primary source (on numbers) is from Government:

For all these newspapers & magazines there are readers.
2,16,49,230 copies is the 3rd largest in India.
