Uncool China fails to woo Taiwan's youth

There are so many Taiwanese in Mainland and there are more and more mainlanders going to taiwan. we will benifit from this communication trend.

exactly, the hope is that mainlanders will understand that unification will happen if and when TW wants it.
as things stand now, status quo is most preferred.

@ Korean

Brother u rock.

Keep them coming, bring the reality out and bust the propaganda

Taiwanese are open to "unification" when

1. China is a multi-party democracy where the KMT and the Democratic Progressive Party could freely compete for votes along with the CCP in mainland..
2. Taiwanese get a immigration protection from mainlanders similar to Hong Kong.

No we will unify under similar systems now practising in HK and Macau.

When you look at Taiwan, you are stunned by the genuine Taiwanese love for Japan. No such love is shared with mainland.

A popular Taiwanese movie which got nominated for the best foreign language film in the Oscar this year is actually giviing a reminder to the Taiwanese about their fight against the Japanese invasion during WW2

Not to mention how 2007 film "Assembly", which was about a CCP soldier's fight during the Chinese Civil War and the Korean War, won Best Actor at the 45th Golden Horse Award in Taiwan.

It's an interesting article. Chinese soft power is undeniably weak, but it seems the 'preference' for Japan came from a social networking poll, not something to take seriously.

Out of interest Korean, do you know do what the attitudes of Korean youth are to Japan? I understand Japanese colonial rule over Korea was harsher than over Taiwan, but seems there are a lot of similarities/borrowings in the youth/pop culture realm.

That's exactly what Taiwanese don't want.

The recent visit by a senior KMT representative Wu Poh-hsiung who has suggested "One Country Two Areas" is the first step forward despite it is receiving much heated debate particularly from DPP in Taiwan afterwards.

Which one? I don't see a Taiwanese film on the list.

Warriors of the Rainbow made it to the January shortlist ( not yet "nominated" - correction)

Even Hong Kongese don't find Main Land Chinese 'Cool', so forget about Taiwanese.

"The right-most poster with old colonial Hong Kong flag says “Support Hong Kong city-state. Anti Mainland Chinese mass immigration”.

In the second round, the posters were all teared off."

^^ you can't generalise on the activities of a small minority in HK campuses!

Actually I was surprised at how non-weak it was. After Hu Xia won 1 million stars singing contest and signed a record contract, he became one of the most popular singers in Taiwan. Xu Liang signed a record contract a long time ago. I didn't even know that Xi Yang Yang was popular in Taiwan, now I do.

Koreans love Japan. Korean-Americans pretend they don't.

This is not a small minority in terms of how the original residents of HK feel about the Chinese immigration populous. there have a sleuth of articles , protests, marches about their disdain .

Hong Kong’s latest fissure with China deepened Wednesday after a popular local newspaper published an advertisement slamming mainland Chinese as “locusts” who swarm the city and drain its resources.

“Hong Kong people, we have endured enough in silence,” said the ad, which ran in the Apple Daily, a Chinese-language paper with an average daily circulation of about 288,000 in the first half of 2011, according to Hong Kong’s Audit Bureau of Circulations.
