Pakistani-born Chicago businessman Tahawwur Rana has been sentenced to 14 years in jail for helping a terrorist group plot an attack on a Danish newspaper that printed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

The defense says Rana was unwittingly lured into the plot by his lifelong friend, David Coleman Headley, an American of Pakistani origin who was employed at a Chicago-based business Rana owned.

A jury found there was insufficient evidence to prove Rana was involved with the helping the group carry out a 2008 attack in Mumbai, India that killed more than 160 people. But Headley has pleaded guilty to laying the groundwork for the Mumbai attacks.

The prosecution says Rana gave Headley a job to facilitate his terrorist activities, while Rana's lawyers say he employed Headley merely as a favor to a friend and did not know the extent of his plots.



Headley testified against Rana as part of a plea-bargain agreement to avoid the death penalty. Headley is to be sentenced next week.

Pakistan's powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency has long been suspected of involvement in the Mumbai attacks, and three ISI agents were named as co-conspirators by U.S. prosecutors. Headley testified the ISI's involvement in the Mumbai plot was limited to a handful of rogue agents.

1. According to UN and also Shimla Agreement Kashmir is a disputed land and not Indian territory.

2. According to Shimla agreement India and Pakistan are bound to govern their relations according to the UN chartered.

3. According to Shimla Agreement the very fist line of the accord said (i) That the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations shall govern the relations between the two countries.

It is India that went to UN and It was India which is calling to end UN appeal, So a legitimate demand.

Kashmir was never an International Issue, Every nation whether it is US or any other accepted it as a bilateral issue. You can try to make it an international issue, But India will take back its appeal to UN and it is India's right.

India's priority is not to get UN permanent seat, we are not crying madam.

There won't be any war because of Kashmir, India did a mistake by going to UN and now we are reverting that mistake. Kashmir will be a bilateral issue and will be solved with diplomacy.

I'm pleasantly surprised to know that in these days where every other conflict is being solved (or atleast thats what they tell us) by NATO bombing, UN is still considered relevant.
Honestly, UN's role in Kashmir is no more than that of a caretaker in creche where kids run to her for everything and the caretaker on her own part just keeps praying for children to grow up.
can't two 60+ year old democracies solve an issue without intervention.
