UN ignores Pakistan bid to seek intervention on Kashmir?

I sure hope one day that happens...That will happen but I hope before there is anymore bloodshed..as they say no great change has ever occurred without a revolution or war.

Resolving the Kashmir issue is actually not that big of a deal given that geopolitics has resolved much bigger issues with ease.

.
The only feasible solution is converting the existing LoC/AGPL into a formally recognized international border.

I agree with it . This is the only solution if we do not believe in miracle and both the states are rational.

But here Pakistani establishment (not Govt) is duping the citizens telling that a miracle may happen and in no way this establishment is acting rationally. But Why? May be for following reasons-
a. If this conflict is resolved, then army's importance will be reduced drastically. Defence budget will be reduced drastically which they do not want. If this is the case then from Pakistan point of view , Kashmir conflict is the biggest " financial scam" in the nation which is syphoning development budget to non productive areas and army boss`s pockets
b. If this conflict is abolished then at one point of time an India-Pakistan confederation may form for financial justification which may reduce your defence budget further.

Pakistani establishment is enjoying king's life, there is no reason that they will forego that voluntarily. You are riding on a tiger's back and do not know how to get down.

So, until Pakistan undergoes big uprising against army, your proposal will never be accepted . If civilian Govt. was the decision maker, this conflict would have been solved much earlier. Your civilian Govt is answerable for low development to the people but has to power to resolve conflicts and reduce unnecessary defence budget--this is their greatest tragedy and the same is greatest luxury to your army ( not directly answerable to people of Pakistan)

( NB : I am equally concerned on unnecessary Indian defence budget. If conflict with Pak & China is resolved, our defence budget will also be reduced. Only relief in our case is Indian army ( not directly answerable to people) here is not the decision maker)

I sincerely hope that happens in our lifetime...It was a pleasure posting/interacting with you on this topic...God bless both Pakistan and India.

There are no such things as "never" or "forever" in international geopolitics.

I believe even my grandkids won't see this happening in their life, Pakistan is badly entangled with the Kashmir obsession.

You may be correct, but considering that huge changes like the fall of the USSR happened very quickly (and the reunification of Germany) gives me hope that the issue might be resolved sooner.

This shows how much honest UN & India are in solving Kashmir problem.

And, the pakistanis are doin a great job of providing us with the reasons and the ammo to mess them up. The isolation of pakistan is complete. All the tantrums and the letter writings produced nothing in return.

I just don't understand why Pakistani Army is against their own country. They are simply axing the opportunities for their country to come out of their political and economic mess. Nawaz Sharif wanted to genuinely pursue ties with India and have a strong trade relation which would have helped in getting growth in Pakistan.

Just then the PA had to ruin the chances of ties.

Really hope Pakistani citizens wake up and realise that this is being done

There is much more to Kashmir than just water resources.

Rising populations and demands for water will become increasingly important for sure, but war or other means to try to change the status quo will not produce any effective solutions for the coming shortages. It has to be a co-operative solution, and for that to be even contemplated, both sides will have to change their security outlook towards each other. That is a tall order indeed.

Most pragmatic solution- convert LOC into international border.
