Two Chinese Jing: Beijing (North Capital) and Nanjing (South Capital)

No offence, that's my general feeling to most cities around Beijing.

Definitely agree, LOL. That's my feeling, as well, again, perhaps due to being accustomed to it.

Beijing feels more official, serious, and related to powerful.

That's what I heard too from those who visited Beijing lol. Beijing is an old city with many old buildings and outdated urban planning focused on automobiles. The air pollution also damage buildings and make them age faster than it should.

It has its own charm I guess.

Maybe that's what you called 土 , tell me any construction that is worth more than The Forbidden City and the Summer Palace in Beijing, those skyscrapers which you can find clusters of them in every Chinese city are truly 土。

北大，清华，中科院。。。Beijing has the most talented people and world renowned companies in China. Beijing literally has the best of everything in China, best colleges, airports, railway stations ,hospitals, universities, museums, theaters, tv stations and entertainment industry... all the big banks and financial supervision departments, so what is 土 do you mean?

Why all NanJing based dynasties were short lived?

This is because Nanjing is well located economically but poorly located strategically. When a dynasty had Nanjing as capital, there is no strong strategic barriers (ie mountains) within a reasonable radius that can provide strategic depth for defense. Yangtze River is not strong enough a barrier. Also When the enemy force came from either north or west, the defending army can be trapped in the area with limited fallback position.

Southern Song was probably the best performing dynasty that has a capital in JiangNan region. It had Hangzhou as the capital but it is very similar. When the key strongholds like XiangYang as sacked, the enemy simply sailed down in Yangtze River without barrier from the west. Taiping Kingdom has exactly the same situation.

Beijing is exactly the opposite: poorly located economically (in imperial era) but brilliantly located strategically. It is strategically located to defend the China heartland. Emperor Zhudi has shown he was an outstanding strategist by relocating the capital to Beijing.

In terms of education, medicine, culture, etc., Shenzhen is worse than many second-tier cities.
Economy is easy to be created, but not the soft aspects.

so far Beijing is my favorite city and urumqi as 2nd fav cuz i have so many good memories in urumqi.
