Can someone tell me plz in percentage how much is made it by turkey .e.g 50% of the satellite ?

The agreement signed in Ankara in 2009 between Telespazio (a Leonardo-Finmeccanica/Thales company) and Turkey’s Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM – Ministry of Defence) covers the construction of an Earth observation satellite equipped with a high resolution optical sensor. The Göktürk-1 programme is managed by Telespazio as prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space (a Thales/ Leonardo-Finmeccanica company) which is responsible for the satellite, and local industrial partners including TAI, ASELSAN, TÜBİTAK, ROKETSAN and TR Technology.

TELESPAZIO’S ROLE

Telespazio, the prime contractor and system integrator, is building the entire ground segment for the system to carry out in-orbit operation and data acquisition and processing. Telespazio is also responsible for the satellite launch, early orbit and test services. The Turkish industry has been involved in the system design and development phase and in supplying some subsystems. In particular, local partners will assist in the building of the data acquisition station, the satellite integration Centre, mission planning systems and remotely sensed data processors.

I found this information. Maybe it can give you an idea about percentage.

Not to jinx it but, I think this gives Turkey too much of an edge with countries like Israel totally against it and half of Europe really bitching about it... I'm going to surprised if it does succeed.


Turkey really needs its own launch capabilities, and means to put stuff into orbit.

Me too, i will only relax once it is up and running. However, we should not forget that a failure will also have a (bigger) negative impact on Arianaspace's reputation and future turnover potential, it is also in their interest to make it succeed. Then again anything can be expected from our enemies and other ill-wishers. We shall see.

They've ordered spare parts for quick build of a second satellite, less than a year to rebuild and launch - if something were to happen.

I read in a German newspaper that in case of an accident they would rebuild a new one within two years.

I don't think We should worry about rocket failure. Last month, Ariana 5 had its 75th sequential successful launch. What I worry is espionage..

There is also the risk of putting the satelite in the wrong part of the orbit. But I think pretty much everything is insured.

These percentages no longer matter Turkey now controls the whole process of production and testing facility a satellite.

I think you are correct;

In addition to the AIT center in Ankara, the contract includes long-lead items for a twin Gokturk-1b satellite. SSM had required sufficient spare parts so that, in the event of a launch failure, the second satellite could be built and launched within two years.
