Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Turkey should find out what Iran and Russia really wants. It’s not to hold Assad in power. Russia wants a seaport on Mediterranean. Iran wants access on Israel border, or what ever. Give them what they need and get what you want in respond.

Çavuşoğlu met with President of Iran Rouhani later today to discuss the situation in Syria. Rouhani warned that "certain sides seek to alter geographical borders in the region and, following their defeat in the north of Iraq, they are now plotting in northern Syria

1028 terrorists 'neutralized' in Operation Olive Branch in Syria

A total of 1028 PKK-linked People's Protection Units (YPG) and Daesh terrorists have been "neutralized" in Operation Olive Branch in Syria's northwestern Afrin region, the military said in a statement Thursday.

The Turkish military uses the term "neutralized" in reference to terrorists captured dead or alive, or those who surrendered during the operations. However, the term is usually used for the terrorists who were killed in the operations.

The military said that 29 terrorists have been "neutralized" in airstrikes carried out overnight.

Operation Olive Branch was launched by Turkey on Jan. 20 to remove the PKK/PYD/YPG/KCK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin in northwestern Syria.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkish borders and in the region as well as to protect Syrian people from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights within international law, U.N. Security Council resolutions, its right to self-defense under the U.N. charter and respect for Syria's territorial integrity, it said.

The military also said, "utmost importance" is being placed on not harming any civilians.

The operation in Afrin – bordering Turkey's Hatay and Kilis provinces – was widely expected in the wake of Turkey's Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria, which cleared Daesh terrorists from Turkey's border between Aug. 24, 2016, and March 2017.

Afrin has been a major hideout for the YPG/PKK since July 2012 when the Assad regime in Syria left the city to the terror group without putting up a fight.

@Taskforce , @WarDaddy97 , @LegionnairE

@cabatli_53 above are the hidden pro PKK trolls trying to undermine our army.
You shouldn't accuse people of being traitors just like that.

Everybody has right to express their opinions if they are not doing terrorist propaganda.

And i can vouch for LegionnairE.

You newbies don't know him yet. He is a valuable member of PDF, compared to all of the newbies combined.

The problem is, nobody has a replacement for Assad at the moment, if he goes away the power vacuum will be filled by undesireble elements to put it mildly. And Erdy is looking at things from a sectarian mindset I think. Assad is going to crush the sunni groups and he doesn't want it. Perhaps he wants influece in Syrian government through these groups, I don't know. But the fact is, Assad is here to stay and he's incapable of making peace with him.

He has to go in the next elections. Unless he can change his "killer assad" narrative until then.

Aselsan/Ukranian Active Protection System 'PULAT' is entering service very soon :-) @cabatli_53
Why did it take so long? Turkish Ukrainian relationships got so good after the downing of Russian jet incident. We could do this much earlier.

The lack of vision in our procurement is disturbing. This is on par with canceling Leopard 2 NG program because it's deemed "too expensive"

Relax, people just have different ways to express themselves,Leggy is no traitor, you will change your mind when you get to know him, give it some time.
Don't bother trying to reason with AKP shills man. People know who I am.

@Combat-Master seems like a bit modified version of Zaslon-L

what are the differences? is the radar unit seperate? or different?

@cabatli_53 yeah, I'm curious as to exactly what did they integrate into it though

And why Zaslon-L? why not the standard Zaslon?
Trying to be inclusive here,no current government style.
it's this retarded mindset if you criticize muh precious leader then you must be "fetöcü" argument.
