S400 just like S300 and modernized version S300 PMU Favorit have not seen a combat. However, not once, but twice S400 manned by the russian crew had a chance to show its prowess. Heads up were given and Russians did nothing.
S300 is currently in Syria and their presence did not deter Israelis from bombing Damascus airport on Jan20. Walk away from Russian Trojan horse, get patriots and work on your own AD system with Europeans.

what if we chose f35 instead of s400. still lose because the US will bomb our airbases. they cannot jamm all the s400s and the navy will also tackle if not at least harras the carrier groups
Hypothetical situation:

The US is attacking Turkey and has moved 3 aircraft carriers into the Mediterranean. Each aircraft carrier has around 60 F35C.

Now imagine Turkey has bought the S400. Believe we purchased 4 batteries? If 180 F35C’s are actively jamming and sending out radar signals do you think those 4 s400 batteries will be able to defeat the attack? Let’s say that all our S400s fires all their missiles, 40 missiles. If every single one hits an F35 that’d be 40 F35s taken out.

The F35s still win, that’s 140 F35s left to drop bombs, fire cruise missiles, etc. Don’t forget cruisemissiles from ships, submarines, etc. It simply can’t keep up on its own.

I’m not saying S400 is useless, but it is playing a role within a wide range of tools. We can’t simply rely on one system to protect everything.

Russia did nothing because of the possible retaliation from Isreal you think a couple S300 most probably manned by the Russians will want to stop Israelis bombing Iranian targets in Syria where there is a conflict of interest between Russia and Iran.

Seems like you still didnt get my point...
Once S400 hits those awacs behind, F35 will need to open their own radar to see which will also make them be seen and shoot down by other air defence missiles which is coming soon, or send f16 to intercept. The whole consept of being stealth with network enabled war are in risk...
They can send thousands of small UAVs to intercept those air defences, thats another case, but Turkey also produce Korkut and Laser air defense for those reason.. Just imagine that 100-200$ is enough to make cheap kamikadze drones. with 100 million you can basically produce a million of them. You cannot send missiles to intercept each of them.. Thats why layered air defence is the key...

2019 is a big year for Turkey in terms of defence. Among other things, two important purchases are set to arrive by the end of this year; the first two F-35 jets and the first S-400 battery.

It is becoming very likely that the US will try to restrict Turkey’s role in the F-35 program if it chooses to proceed with the purchase of the S-400 air defence system.

If it comes down to it, and Turkey absolutely had to choose one, which one of the two should Turkey choose?

I think You can locally develop a near peer of S-400 but getting a fighter like F-35 will take time for Turkey. moreover getting too close with Russia will damage relation with USA which ultimately try to harm Turkey from economically to militarily . So my verdict will don't take emotional decision go for F-35 and try to get help from Russia or anywhere to develop something like S-400 .

Actually USA has to give f35 to Turkey as its one of the main partner for the project, basically its not a buyer but a developer with USA. Blocking it will result in huge monetary punishment, which will also work for Turkey as Turkey probably knows a lot of thing about the project already.

Lmao. So, all Turkey has to do is threaten and USA will snap in attention?. I wonder, when presented with facts such as DTs tweets threatening Ankara, small scale steel tariffs, sanctions on 1-2 Turkish officials that collapsed Turkish currency, what kind of thoughts go thru your mind?

Pence: ‘We will not stand idly by’ as Turkey purchases S-400

MUNICH - Vice President Mike Pence repeated warnings to Turkey not to proceed with the purchase of Russia’s S-400 missile defense system, a day after Turkey dismissed the first of two deadlines to cease with the planned sale.

Pence, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, told attendees “we will not stand idly by while NATO allies purchase weapons from our adversaries. We cannot ensure the defense of the West if our allies grow dependent on the East."

The U.S. had set a Feb. 15 deadline for Turkey to respond and signal their intentions to cease with the sale, a U.S. official told Military Times. If Turkey refuses, a forthcoming sale of a Patriot missile defense system from the U.S. will be halted.

“We have been clear with Turkey,” the U.S. official said. “The will not receive the Patriot if they purchase the S-400."

The Patriot sale, estimated at $3.5 billion, would cover the procurement of 80 Patriot MIM-104E Guidance Enhanced and 60 PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement missiles, as well as associated equipment.

The S-400 sale would also impact Turkey’s role in the international development of the fifth generation Joint Strike Fighter.

Earlier this year, the Pentagon reported to Congress on the impact to the F-35 program if it ditches Turkey as a partner. Turkey sources some of the parts for the program and that action could result in delays to the program if Turkey is no longer a contributor.

Congress still has to decide what action to take.

Pence did mention another product from the East it considers a threat, China’s communication network.

“The United States has also been very clear with our security partners on the threats posed by Huawei and other Chinese telecom companies that requires them to provide Beijing’s vast security apparatus with access to any data that touches their network or equipment,” Pence said. "We must protect our critical telecom infrastructure.”

Insulting someone's daughter is not a proper way to "defend your motherland".Especially when no one is threatening it in the first place...

s-400 aside, let me get clear. They are rejecting 5g from china? They will reject Turkish 5g to in this case, what should we do accept ther 5g network?

This is getting complexer...

I would not trust Huawei, to be honest.
