F-35 for sure. For all the money we're pouring into S-400 it's not worth it. The Russians aren't willing to give know-how and we won't be able to use it with its full capacity so it's kinda useless. Besides, we haven't used such advanced Russian system ever and won't be able to notice if they're spying us with it.

Just get the Patriots for a reasonable price, keep working on other projects with European partners and improve on existing Defence system projects.

On top of all that, we don't know how S-400 even performs.

That would be optimal if those Allies actually wanted to work with Turkey and not stab it in the back any chance they get

. .
Turkey already has a very potent airforce, our air defence is built on the back of our F16s. It would be suicide to attack main land Turkey conventionally.
S400 will strengthen our defence capabilities no doubt but we have projects that will become live in a few years to cover this area, this is only a stop gap.

F35, will give Turkey an air superiority edge over all its neighbours, locally, including the Russians. We need replacements for our aging F4s. I’m not sure when TFX will actually be ready making F35 more vital.

Long term F35 is a force multiplier and will help with power projection in the Middle East. No point having carriers if there is no planes to land on them. We have a Mediterranean that is heating up and bases overseas so will be vital.

.
Every air defence system can be beaten,we can wait for our indigenous system.
The F-35 is a game changer,we need the new ''F-4''.
Can't F-35 beaten? Or are they really reliable ? In addition there is still an untrustable USA that we are talking about.
Moreover S400 is such a level that we able to reach at there at least in 5-10 years. And every S400 batillion can not be beaten. S400 too urgent for that interim period for now when USA seeking for convinient space to set up small israel at our south border. F.kk usa yankees and everything from them.

It cant be beaten by anything around us,Israel(the leading Air power in the region) will have about 100 of them and not to forget the GCC with their modern Air Forces,we just cant stay behind.
There is nothing comparable and we cant wait at least 15 years to have a squadron of the TFX.
What if we go to war in the meantime, you think a few batteries of the S-400 is enough to defend us against enemies?
And every S400 batillion can not be beaten.
Again, untill you have a dome like system(laser dome) which covers every cm of the area its protecting(see it like an electric fence),every Air Defence system can be beaten in many different ways.

That Southern border ''country'' will never have the weapons(missiles) to attack us in any way for us to be needing an Air Defence system, dont you worry about that.
F.kk usa yankees and everything from them.
But still,if not for NATO and EU,we would still be a third world country.
Think about it for a while.

A question about F-35's. Defense minister AKAR said that the F'35's where expected to be on turkish soil november 2019. How many planes are we talking about? According to schedule Turkey is expected to get another 4 F-35 this year. So will we have 6 F-35 in Turkey at the end of 2019? Or just the two we initially received in 2018?

We get them when training and testing is completed at the first stages.
Later on we'll probably have Turkish instructors, ingineers, maintenance personnel etc.
Dont know the exact timeframe but sometime in the future,we will be training our pilots at home, just like with previous fighter jets.

How do we trust in such a country, usa that they did off our gps system during al-bab and afrin operation period. Any turks must be crayz to trust to usa as an ally, or they must be traitor.

And S400 is not like a defence weapon that can be easly beaten as you claim, moreover S400s are believed to be number 1, the best by usa too.
How do you claim it can be beaten, some old s300 could defeat almost 200 american missiles on one night in syria, 80%, it is really good ratio. And s200 did shot down many stealth american planes in serbia in 1990s. We will have S400, better than all.
And our real enemy is zionist american imperialism, not arround countries, they can not even be a rival during that short period too, in 5-10 years, until we finish our indigenous defence products.

I think first and foremost these systems are not comparable from any perspective. So I believe that we should compare them within their respective domains. We have already poured hundreds of millions of dollars into the Joint Strike Fighter program in both research and development phases not to mention the aircraft unit costs. Secondly, I don't think we have alternatives for this plane in both naval and aerial domains. No other plane comes close. When combined with TF-X and Hürjet hopefully it will make a quite formidable force composition to our Air Force. However take a look at our long range air defence programs. We have what, EuroSam consortium for Hisar-U, the Siper thing that the president announced, PAC-3 (MSE and GEM-T) and finally the S-400.

Even if only one of these programs particularly focus on ABM and the others are for long range air defense, its still too much for a system as sophisticated as ABM and long range air defence and the combined cost of these systems altogether do not overweight the advantages if accepted into the inventory altogether.

It is my opinion that even if there was no economic crisis and no drift between US-Turkey on anything and they welcomed the S-400 purchase. I think that we have way too many long range air defense programs for our economy and military resources to handle. People tend to confuse such programs with basic military platforms. They are quite strategic, require significantly sensitive integration into national systems and they are billion-dollar costing acquisitions. They are probably the most strategic type of weapon platform that come after the nuclear weapons. Its a pity that this too is being politicized instead of being rational for what path is best for our country.

Who said you have to trust a country, its all about momentary interests.

Never happened.

Wasn't the S-200, a single F-117 jet was shot down, not "many stealth jets"(The only reason it was shot d9wn was because its weapons bay was open, it wasn't stealthy at that moment)

Answer is

TFX + Hurjet B2 (Secondary 4++ Interceptor with a more powerful engine)
HISAR + SIPER

Look at Israel. They have unconditional support from US. There are quite deep defense cooperation with Germany and some other key EU countries. Although there is a distant relationship with Russia, there is information sharing in the field of intelligence. In spite of all these global capabilities, they are entirely providing domestic solutions or some main platforms with all Israeli electronics in strategic systems.

Even though not as much as Israel, we still have some global opportunities. However, for a fully independent foreign policy, we must act like other global providers in Defence industry.

HISAR and SIPER systems will be operational in the 2025-2030 range. 2030 is expected range for TFX . Thus, the range of risk for Turkey is around 10-15 years. Who want to intervene through blackmail against Turkey's security problems, if can not take results in 10 years, the roles will be changed.

Yes but it is not going to shoot down any airplane
