Top German Politician Tells Ash Carter to 'Go F**K' Himself. Finally!

The mood is changing in Europe

Oskar Lafontaine is a major force in German politics. When he comes out swinging this way, you know something is changing.

He has been an outsized figure in German politics since the mid-70s. He was chairman of the SPD (one of Germany's two main parties) for four years, the SPD's candidate for chancellor in 1990, minister of finance for two years, and then chairman of the Left party in the 2000s. He is married to Sarah Wagenknecht, political heavyweight, who is currently co-chairman of Left party.

So it caught people's attention when he excoriated Ash Carter and Victoria Nuland on his Facebook page yesterday.

Lafontaine's outburst came a day after his wife, Sarah Wagenknecht, blasted Merkel's Russia policy in an interview on RT.

“The US 'Defense' secretary, i.e., war minister is in Berlin. He called on Europe to counter Russian 'aggression'. But in fact, it is US aggression which Europeans should be opposing.

“The Grandmaster of US diplomacy, George Kennan described the eastward expansion of NATO as the biggest US foreign policy mistake since WW2, because it will lead to a new cold war.

“The US diplomat Victoria Nuland said we have spent $5 billion to destabilize the Ukraine. They stoke the flames ever higher, and Europe pays for it with lower trade and lost jobs.

“Nuland says 'F*ck the EU'. We need need an EU foreign policy that stops warmongering US imperialism.

None of these are stateowned or state funded.
None of these are particularly intended for foreign consumption.
None of these have been labelled "core organisations of strategic importance" to the USA, by its head of state.
None of these have been called a propaganda outlet for the US government and its foreign policy by former US government officials and by news reporters, including former reporters of said media.
None of these media have been accused of spreading (government) disinformation.

OfCom enforces UK broadcasting rules, not some holy institution. Still, it hasn't taken issue with any of the above media

The point is not (im)impartiality (evenhandedness or fair-mindedness), which is a principle of justice holding that decisions should be based on objective criteria, rather than on the basis of bias, prejudice, or preferring the benefit to one person over another for improper reasons.

The point is disinformation. Disinformation is intentionally false or inaccurate information that is spread deliberately.
It is an act of deception and false statements to convince someone of untruth. Disinformation should not be confused with misinformation, information that is unintentionally false.
Unlike traditional propaganda techniques designed to engage emotional support, disinformation is designed to manipulate the audience at the rational level by either discrediting conflicting information or supporting false conclusions. Go onto BBC and you will at some point get both sides of arguments and they ALWAYS have a variety of stories from all over the world with eyewitness accounts and interviews, they will report on bad things that happen in the UK, and internal matters of corrupt politicians etc, to silly pieces on a street food seller in Hong Kong. RT on the other hand NEVER reports on anything which is negative to Russia, because its owned by the government, never anything atall makes the front page which truly portrays Russia in a negative light and there are daily stories that can do that. Instead there headlines are always just attacks on the west for trivial/questionable reasons and ones that Russia themselves are normally guilty of.

That is my main issue with RT, its completely 100% one sided and it seems 90% of its stories focus on anti western talk. Whereas BBC might have 1% of stories about Russia, 99% about world news, RT is an anti western mouthpiece of crap for socially awkward Europeans and yanks that hate their government but are in reality usually basement dwellers and angry muslims.

Your logic is strange. BBC is not owned by government, then at least he is owned by someone. If RT is owned government and she does not report any negative things about Russian, BBC is owned by a small minority, she will not report any negative things about these minorities? So which is better? A public media owned the government who is at least for the country or say the majority, while a public media who can be used by the limited minority and against the whole country? I don't think it is pointless for some wise men in the Europe, who can quickly understand what and who makes this tragedy, when weapons are continuously flowing from the EU to the hands of ISIS direct or indirectly but on purpose.

The problem was caused by an insane eastward expansion of Nato, driven by the US. Nato moving into areas it has no business in, establishing itself on Russia's door step.
