Top 3 best and worst Ottoman/Turkish generals

I loved them!! :P

Let me be more clear, i actually enjoyed while listening. But our history lessons starts with ancient Turkic States, Hun Turks, Göktürks, Seljuks, Ottomans, Caliphates... etc.. and all this states common point is they couldn't stay where they were and had to go conquer someplaces. There were massive amount of battles, treaties to memorize for the exams and i hated it.

Timur was a Mongol, whilst Saladin was Kurdish. They were not Turkish/Turkic, nor from Turkey. They did have a huge number of Turkic warriors in their armies thought - probably more than 50% of their armies were Turkic.

Timur was not Mongol, he was Turkic but he showed himself as descendant of Cenghiz Khan to take the rule.
It is interesting that only American and British Universities claim that Saladin was Kurdish to pumping Kurdish nationalism. Saladin was the last leader of a Turkic dynasty Zengids. Also you can clearly see that his brothers have absolutely Turkic names.
Tacülmülk Böri, (Böri means wolf in old Turkic)
Seyfülislam Tuğtekin, (Tekin means brother of Khan in old Turkic)
Malik Adil Ebu Bekir ve

This is true. Everywhere on the interney Kurds are saying that Saladin was Kurdish. I don't know where they base this on. Even wikipedia is taken over by this.

I assume the worst turk general was Tupal who was killed in battle with safavid torks?

.
Timur defeated Beyazit and took him captive. I wonder if they spoke same Turkic or different dialect and if they could understand each other easily.

this is not proof - this is highly suspect and circumstantial. The whole world, including all friends of Turks and Turcophiles, know Timur as Mongol, and Saladin as a Kurd. Please provide proof of otherwise - you already know that I can provide you with tons of authoritative scholars confirming what I am saying: a number of Saladin's contemporary sources make note of this. The biographer Ibn Khallikan writes, "Historians agree in stating that [Saladin's] father and family belonged to Duwin [Dvin]....They were Kurds and belonged to the Rawādiya (sic), which is a branch of the great tribe al-Hadāniya": Minorsky, Studies in Caucasian History (1953), p. 124. The medieval historian Ibn Athir ,who is a Kurd and therefore his credibility is questionable, relates a passage from another commander: "...both you and Saladin are Kurds and you will not let power pass into the hands of the Turks": Minorsky (1953), p. 138.

Meanwhile, are you disputing that Timur was from the Barlas tribe, and that Barlas tribe was Mongol?

How about Selim I

I guess he was the best General of classical Ottoman era

Turks are a nation of heroes who have produced many military leaders.Unfortunately we do not get to read much about them. From the time of the Ottoman Sultans to Mustafa Kamal down to General Yazici there is no end to great military commanders on land and sea. Memet Fatih and Beyazid II are only two in a long list of Sultans with military successes. Omar Pasha, Iskendar Pasha, Admiral Barbarossa, and soon. Very difficult to just pin point three top. Can't say much about who should be at the bottom. But definitely not Enver.

IMHO Turkic generals were much better than Ottoman generals.

Turkic generals such as Timur raped Beyazid and put him in a cage:

Let's be real. Ottomans were highly incompetent against Russians (almost lost all wars against Russians). We lost Balkan wars and almost lost all European land. Only thanks to Ataturk we retained Istanbul and east-Thrace. Ottomans also f-ed up siege of Vienna and many other wars. After 17th century Ottomans were a joke. Europeans called Ottomans sick man of Europe.

The worst of it. Last Ottoman Sultan made agreement with Europeans to divide up Turkey for the sole purpose of keeping his seat. He was a coward and fled with British ships to UK where he died. It is very sad ending of Ottoman history but we have to accept it.

This is a sober and honest assessment.

Some of the "Russian" generals and admirals that waged war against two Turkic empires, the Ottoman (Turkey) and the Safavids/Afshars/Qajars (Iran), were actually of Turkic origin themselves. Other "Russian" generals included Georgians (Gen. Bagration, Gen. Andronikov), Armenians (Gen. Loris Melikov, Gen. Ter-Gukasov), and different Europeans (Gen. Totleben, Gen. Mikhelson, etc).
