Time to let go of the Saudi-Iranian rivalry?

Saudi Arabia and Iran are divided by Gulf (Persian/Arab) this gulf is exceedingly wide that the water of the entire Indian ocean can not bridge that bay. Even at the Shah's time when Iran was a puppet of the USA, the relationship could not be termed as cordial between the two sides of the Gulf. At that time it was stemmed from extreme Persian Nationalism and its hatred for Arabs now It is the culmination Zealot Shiite belief of late Ayatollah Khomeini and its hatred for Sunni-Salfai ideology of Saudi Arabians. As prominent Iranian sociopolitical scientist, Sadek Zebahkalam wrote in one of his articles that Persians think that Arabs equally hate them, which only the Arab members of the PDF may corroborate.

Your post is full of ignorance, you have definitely no understanding on ME and Iranians and Arabs.
I don't have the time now,but maybe some other time,I will bring you some more facts. You are talking like it's all Iranian fault and Arabs are completely innocent, and this can only come out of ignorance.

oh no inferiority complex again , you must be so sad turks ruled you for hundreds of years

Mayans and Aztecs weren't a superpower. You mistake civilizations for superpowers. Besides that, according to Amy Chua the world have only seen 7 hyperpowers throughout the history: Persians, Romans, Chinese, Dutch, Mongol, British and Maurya.

lol what is the persian empire ? what can we know of something that was thousands of years ago and there are films of naked people with wierd looking faces ? if that is false then what is real? what is persian empire i search it and some next sassanid and some funny names come up , their inferiority of getting ruled by Turkic rulers for hundreds of years , they cant get over it

But this war is already for “33 years now”. The dream of a new Persian Empire resurrected by all means.

.
Thank you very much.

That you do not like. Does not change anything it remains always “the truth”. There is ‘only one and single revelation’. Not two, not three. Not black and white. But white or black, ‘one single truth’. The Holy Quran was revealed for this purpose only. It is called ‘Islam’ or also ‘Sunni Muslim’.

All others may believe any what they want. They are entirely free.

But they will be never, never “us”.

For all those who love fairy tales.

In the world of the living there are only reality and facts. As in Syria but also before in Iraq and Lebanon.

Anything else is just wonderful stories we tell all the childrens to avoid them being afraid alone in the darkness. But in reality, monsters and demons really exist.

But this war is already for “33 years now”. The dream of a new Persian Empire resurrected by all means.
Although this might seem a harsh overreaction, but unfortunately this is very true. We haven't ever been brothers and will never be. What kind of brothers who celebrate slaughtering our and- supposedly- their brothers in Syria and calling the victims "terrorists"?!

I think you guys ***** still hurts after 12.000 Persians defeated 300.000 Turks at this war:

First Perso-Turkic War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We gave you guys a rematch and decided that 12.000 man is too many against 300.000 and so we sent only 2000 men this time. But even then you guys were completely slaughtered.

Second Perso-Turkic War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

More about our fighting spirit:

Remember how the Persians defeated the Romans led by Valerian, were an entire Roman army was defeated and he himself was made a prisoner. Remember how the Parthians defeated the Romans in the Battle of Carrhae, were they defeated a Roman invasion force led by Crassus. Rember how the Romans led their biggest loss under the Roman Emperor Gordian were more than 60.000 Romans were captured by the Persians led by Shapur and Rome paid a huge amount of money to them. Remember how the Persians defeated the Romans at the Battle of Barbalissos. The Greeks defeated the Persians occasionally, yes, but they never had the strength/power to defeat the Persians in the heart of the empire. The Macedonians did, but they couldn't hold the empire under control after a short time. When the Turks invaded Persia, the Persian empire was degenerated and not at their height of power. Also remember how the Parthians defeated the Greeks.

''So it is well to understand what these Persians did. No one has ever questioned the prowess of the Roman legions. Only one people ever met them on equal terms in open fight. These were the Persians. They first challenged Rome in the very height of her power; and throughout four centuries the greatest forces the mistress of the world could gather were repeatedly and vainly hurled against Persia. Not one Persian army was destroyed; not one Persian king was led captive in a Roman triumph. Battles were won as often by one nation as by the other; but Rome suffered the great disasters of which we have told; and Rome paid Persia large sums of money for peace so often that the Roman populace complained bitterly, declaring they were become mere tributaries of Persia.''

Also remember how European empires/armies were influenced by Persian military inventions. The Persians were the first who used heavy cavalry. The Cataphract was introduced by the Iranians, and was adopted by the Greeks and Romans. The European knight culture was heavy influenced by the Persians.

You Turks are only famous for one thing:

"I wish fervently that the Turkish barbarians be chased away immediately out of the country of Xenophon, Socrates, Plato, Sophocles and Euripides. If we wanted, it could be done soon but seven crusades of superstition have been undertaken and a crusade of honour will never take place. We know almost no city built by them; they let decay the most beautiful establishments of Antiquity, they reign over ruins."

- Voltaire.

Nietzsche on Persians:

"I must pay tribute to Zarathushtrâ, a Persian (einem Perser): Persians were the first who thought of history in its full entirety."

Jean Chardin on Persians:

''The Persians are the most civilized of the peoples of the East, and what the French are to Europe, they are to the Orient... Their bearing and countenance is the best-composed, mild, serious, impressive, genial and welcoming as far as possible. They never fail to perform at once the appropriate gestures of politeness when meeting each other... They are the most wheedling people in the world, with the most engaging manners, the most supple spirits and a language that is gentle and flattering, and devoid of unpleasant terms but rather full of circumlocutions.''

One conclusion: superior.

It's a long and unpleasant story. As it's obvious here, not everyone is capable of comprehending it. No offence meant, but we lived this story day by day. I don't blame you, because I was like you before.

My friend, even if the regime in Syria is insane, do you think there is an alternative there?
Is there a genuine hope that the opposition if a very rational one?
Don't you think removing Assad(he is cruel I agree) could drive Syria into becoming another Iraq?
Don't you see Iraq is probably engulfed in civil war for the rest of its life and runs the danger of being balkanized in future?
Saudi Arabia has always offered genuine committment to Iran while Iran has always returned with a back stab. Point in case in the situation in Syria where Iran is continuously supporting an insane regime.

and young females? are they not capable of research and development?
I think now KSA should concentrate on Getting united with Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar as a single country and try to encourage young males for R&D.

.
I think the problem is deeply rooted over centuries old hate , can`t be undone in mere 10 decades , most recently Iraq was fully funded by Arabs and it results in current crisis

Who am i to give the certificate of innocence or blamenessness to anyone and by quoting Sadek Zebahkalam, I tried to ask the Arab members to take the note on whether they hate the Persian equally and fervently or not? In my view ethnic hatred stems from historical facts and the Arab conquest of Persia and Safavid conversion of Persians in to Shiite belief is a historical fact. Now coming to the point of late Ayatollah Khomeini’s hatred to Saudi Arabian Roayals is evident from his sermons and writings.

.
In a real WAR scenario Ayatollah Khomeini’s OR Saudi Arabian Roayals wont be fighting the war but it would be the People common man and it is he who will lose the most

More people to people relation must start

Persians should re-consider there polices over the Arabia, do they really think if a war breaks they will be safe?

Arab's should reconsider the approach they are taking towards Persia

If any of u visit any of the old ports of UAE u will be surprised to see the calm and trust worthy methods used to do business between Arabs and Persians.

These old links must be re-established coz when all is done and gone u will only have each other.

When did the Muslim world become so arrogant and inhospitable, even towards each other.

Sometimes, these modern Arabs seem like they have a sense of superiority, like the rest of the Muslim world are "converts" and the Arabs are genuine Muslims. But they forget that their ancestors were polytheistic people with very backward practices, before converting to Islam.

And Iranians seem very nationalistic, proud of their Persian superpower heritage, even though that superpower was a tool of satan/fire worshippers and fought Islam to the last. Every part of the world has been a superpower at one point or another, from the Mayans&Aztecs in the Americas, Napoleon France, Sultan Suleman's Turkey was so awe-inspiring Queen Elizabeth wrote to him begging for protection in repeated official letters before fighting the Spanish Invincible Armada. Ashoka in India had a huge empire. It takes hundreds of years, sometimes tens of hundreds of years, for people to abandon their superpower arrogance, and that casts a shadow on the national character for some time.

We need to get rid of this nationalism where it acts as a competitor to Islam. Nationalism is another western concept, another illah that we worship. Before the 1920s(when the West introduced this junk concept), there was no notion of passports or visas, and people weren't boxed in and could pick up and move essentially wherever they wanted to. So nationalism, as it exists today, simply was not there. And this nationalism is one of the main strings that the West pulls, to make their puppet regimes in these Muslim countries help our enemies against other Muslim countries. And the tragic thing is, that psyche of self-superiority is visible even in the folks participating in this forum.

I agree with some parts. All iranians are not muslims. Large number of people are non muslims. Sometimes you don't need religion only to unite...
I guess you understand my point. For more clarification of my point read this.

Keep it civil. Next time I will take harsher measures.

get your point across in a more respectable manner. Both of you.

Even at the Shah's time Iranian economy was based on Hydrocarbons and i think there present economic composition matrix is better than Shah's (sanction free) time but they had huge per capita income at that time because of low population and high oil income from export.Unlike Iran,Turkish economy which has never been based on natural resources and their economic mix has always been diversified. The other reason for their economic progress is the European standards that they applied on the manufacturing industry.

Also count the tourism factor on Turkish economy. Besides that, both countries have a great potential as is stated here:

Guys plz stay on topic rather making this a Iran vs Turkey thread we can take up the subject in an another thread

Lets discuss what steps can be taken by both the sides to make things more Humane

Nobody can deny Arabs or the Persians had a glorious past but lets now see that can happen again this time as brothers.

I think Economy is the key to solving this issue?

It depends on 2 things:Next Iranian president and next Saudi king.If in both countries, the ones who take the office have any interests in boosting ties, then it'll be as easy as drinking water.
We should wait 9 other months to see who is Iran's next president.
About Saudi king.I really don't know how much we should wait.:)
