Time to get Pakistan out of America's influence - China

There should be No foreign influence. China is a good ally but we should consider only trade, infrastructure development and defence. Nothing should exceed beyond this.

Good points but the catch here is defence, get it to a pure buyer-seller relationship and voila you are independent.. Keep pushing for countering a bigger force with sophisticated weaponry and the viscous circle starts!

China is half the economic size of the US, and has many times the population, meaning less per capita income and less funds for the Chinese government to throw around like the US. Rest assured China is not as foolish as the US to try to prop up a dead horse. At most Pakistan an expect to be treated like NK.

That's easier said than done! Can China, Pakistan's all weather friend, afford to give the freebies that America is giving to Pakistan? No. Can China influence the international lending organizations like the IMF, World Bank etc? No. Can China be able to provide Pakistan hi-tech equipment matching American standards? No. Can China provide the aid that the US is giving Pakistan during natural calamities like floods etc? No.

Considering the present situation that Pakistan is in now, it would be a bad idea to even think of it!

You'll be amazed to know what China would be able to do after 10 years. Pakistan has paid a lot more price in terms of infrastructure and human resources than it has received aid/freebies for from America. China doesn't advertises the aid it gives to Pakistan during natural calamities like U.S. Have you ever seen an A+ quality equipment of China ??? Even the American military uses these equipments because of their superior quality ... lol .. do the research before misdirecting people...

We are not getting anything for free. China will use the trade route for its energy supplies. Fortunately, Pakistan is located at a strategic location both for East and the West in terms of economic importance as well as military.

This is the right time for a change nothing to lose all to gain .

Seems like a great deal

Pakistan with 0$ for Loans payment means 100% of Pakistani Budget will be speant on Budget and Military

Loans take up 25% -50% of our income from yearly budgets

It would be foolish to burn any bridges is my take here...

Pakistan has China as an ally and its getting what it wants from the US (though their relations may not be as rosy) because of the geo-political realities of the Afg-Pak region..

I say chug along and try to get as much economic benefits from the US as Pakistan can....Dont believe Pakistan's relations with China are affected by Paks relations with the US.

Besides someone wise did say "Keep your friends close, your enemies closer" (caveat being India in this situation)

China can use Gawadar port , help develop the region , and construction of roads from Gwadar to China , it will bring Trade and Jobs to Pakistan.

Also from National Prespective , Pakistan with 0 Loans mean our Growth Index would go up as our budget will not be wasted on Paying IMF PHOKUT money .. as interest.

Expansion of the Roads will help move Oil goods to China and also help move Chinese Goods out to Gulf region where they are needed.

They are using the port to ensure safety of their oil supplies and importing oil cheap from Iran, the economy you can build by providing these services to countries like China, India and Russia would make you more money and give a boost to your economy.

I cannot read the article but how will it make your country loan free? They possibly cannot fund every project and last time I heard JF-17 was on soft loans.. so essentially you have come a whole circle.
