They are using the port to ensure safety of their oil supplies and importing oil cheap from Iran, the economy you can build by providing these services to countries like China, India and Russia would make you more money and give a boost to your economy.


I cannot read the article but how will it make your country loan free? They possibly cannot fund every project and last time I heard JF-17 was on soft loans.. so essentially you have come a whole circle.

Can you post an analysis of how much they are willing to pay and how much is outstanding and how much can you earn while providing these services yourself, not just to China but Russia and India too?

Google the recent military cooperation between China and Pakistan and the transfer of technology... In particular, research about JF-17 Airforce Jets. Hopefully once China builds the Gwadar port, in future, it might help us building our own Navy with new assets developed jointly.

Pakistan cannot provide these services at this point because of financial reasons Or even if it tries it will take a lot more years after which it will reap benefits. China's help will be a jump start in our economy which Pakistan would be able to harness more quickly.

We do not want to work our @rses off like Indians to fill the pockets of American super companies (through call centers and BPO services)

We do not want to work our @rses off like S, Koreans to fill the pockets of American super companies like AT&T and Verizon by filling their American customers' pockets with samsung phones.




We do not want to work in Pakistan.


But we do OK when go to work in gulf, UK or US.

Unless we develop habits to work hard like Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Germans, Canadians and work hard to export to the USA, our economy will not improve.

Hi, how do you propose to work hard when you can't even get a chaprasi Job without paying a bribe. How do you work hard when you can't get loans for which you have to pay 150% interest.

Nothing can be done in classic term "aween mein".

Actually Pakistanis are working for Chinese, you see even made in Pakistan items are non existent than made in China in Pakistan that has destroyed our local industry completely. So No Neither will China ever pay off your debt nor do i want them to do it for us to be slaves to another master, we need to fix our economy ourselves and learn the hardway so people can remember and that be a lesson to all Pakistanis.

Yes. Yes and Yes. With the Americans there have been no freebies, they have sucked our blood for every penny.

There is no doubt that China can do all those things, however, not sure if they will. That's the 30 billion dollar question. Will they go that far?

That's easier said than done! Can China, Pakistan's all weather friend, afford to give the freebies that America is giving to Pakistan? No. Can China influence the international lending organizations like the IMF, World Bank etc? No. Can China be able to provide Pakistan hi-tech equipment matching American standards? No. Can China provide the aid that the US is giving Pakistan during natural calamities like floods etc? No.

Considering the present situation that Pakistan is in now, it would be a bad idea to even think of it!

Can't read the original article, although I doubt China would say something like "Time to get Pakistan out of America's Influence" openly.

But I do believe that China can do much much more for Pakistan.

Some people mentioned US gave Pak billions freebies. I don't know what they are, but just want to ask: how important are those freebies to Pakistan's development? and at what price?

IMO, without US, without the stupid war on terror, Pakistan would be a much better place. Think about it, if there is 1% GDP loss every year for 10 years, for Pakistan the total loss is more than 100 billions - 10 times more than US free money.

Even just 0.1% extra GDP increase every year, it is still a lot after 10 years.

So if Pakistan is stable country, China can give a lot help to Pakistan -- infrastructure, manufacture, technology and loans etc. Not free, but much better than the free money from US.

In China, we have a saying: 授人以鱼，不如授人以渔 --- It is much better to teach people how to fish instead of giving them fishes.

And last we sincerely hope Pakistan becomes a prosperous developed country along with China. And I am really not sure if Americans are hoping the same.

China To the rescue: Another debt rollover to ease pressure on reserves


ISLAMABAD:

China is likely to roll over $500 million of Pakistan’s debt, a move aimed at stabilizing foreign currency reserves and protecting the rupee from further decline against the dollar as the country prepares to return first tranche of International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) loan.

This is for the second time when China is providing some cushion to Pakistan as earlier Beijing has struck a currency swap deal worth $1.5 billion which will also help stabilize foreign currency reserves.
