You are 100% on point and What China requires most to fight world war 3. China needs continuous supply of Oil and where is that going to come from? It will come from Iran Via Pakistan. That is why China has invested in CPEC. Because of China Pakistan will defend Iran. Russia is the largest oil provider to China but in a world war Russia will cut it's Supply and China will depend on Irani oil that is why China will make Pakistan side with Iran.

Those are done by Russia to checkout USA defenses, mostly done to find out the response time and which bases the response is coming from. Russia does that with UK too.

Look China cannot afford Iran falling under USA occupation. China needs oil. China is investing in Pakistan just to save Iran. China needs Irani oil as a back for all out war.

China has several options for oil and some are not even in ME. Also as far as I know Pakistan has oil reserves now and eventually China will be able to buy also natural gas from Israel.
