What's new

Thousands of people are leaving Hong Kong — and now it’s clear where they’re going

Numerous ethnic groups joined the Chinese group in the history, Xiongnu, xianbei, rouran, wusun, Di, Qiang, jie ... and all became Chinese, ancient Han people was just a concept, this land is called China is our common family, if they were invaders, what country did they belong to?
The Qing Empire?

Do you expect nomadic tribes to form modern nations back in the day?

. . .
Do you see any Sindhis outside of Pakistan?
I don't know about Pakistan, I know everything about China, I don't see anything odd for a Chinese group setting up a Chinese dynasty in the Chinese history

.
yes of course they understand, that's purpose of mandarin... for everyone to understand each other
Yeah but the issue is Hong Kong did it’s own thing under the British for two centuries and like it or not it developed its own identity, laws, culture and society.

You can’t just dismantle it, the people there will defend it. Instead China needs to work with the differences and build something new with mutual trust and understanding.

Stream rolling only alienates and radicalises the people.

A people with their own language, writing styles, culture and traditions are what you can call nation groups.

And for centuries these people were considered barbaric invaders by your ancestors.

Chinese nation is a melting pot constantly absorbs numerous groups in the history , learn some Chinese history first? Manchus are a Chinese group, they can not be found outside China, do you mean they are stateless people?

It was the KMT that raised the slongan of China being a melting pot, before them China was run by regional cliques who pledged their allegiance to whoever controlled the capital.

This is another topic.

No it’s not, before the KMT the concept of China as a nation state didn’t exist. You should thank Dr Sun and his friends in Hong Kong for your country.
This so absurd a claim, who told you this? If you believe old dynasties and monarchies were not a concept of being a nation, then UK till today is not a nation.

唐律疏议》云:“中华者,中国也。亲被王教,自属中国,衣冠威仪,习俗孝悌,居身礼义,故谓之中华。”

That's what I suspect too. The concept of Han is only recent, I think. Is Han Ethnicity was born in Qing Dynasty to call the people of the previous Ming Dynasty? Because all Han came from a vanished country that previously called as Ming Dynasty.

But even Ming was not a homogenious ethnicity. There were so many people that now we call as dialectic?

It’s literally called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Plus the Queen is German

Does Japan have a written constitution and an elected government?
300 years ago, maybe, China always had state laws and codes throught thousands of years of history, mostly based on Confucius values. and for over a thousand years, Japan, Korea, Vietnam all followed the same mode of governance, even the uniforms for the government officals were almost exactly the same.
