What's new

Thoughts?

From the markets and schools of Pakistan to the halls and streets of France, we have all suffered at the hands of violent terrorists and their extremist ideologies. Across the globe, nations and leaders are taking whatever steps necessary to curb this plague of violence. Recently, Pakistani leadership has passed a constitutional amendment to deal with militants wreaking havoc on Pakistani soil.

What are your thoughts on the ratification of this constitutional amendment? Would it help deter others from following the path of terrorism?

How about Mumbai? What is your thoughts on that? Does it figure somewhere in between "markets and schools of Pakistan to the halls and streets of France"? Or not?

This amendment was long overdue and this a step in the right direction. More similar steps are needed to support this step.

How about the Samjotha Express train terrorist bombing by India that killed 78 and injured 200+ innocent Pakistani civilians?

I am definitely against terrorism, but look at what did Western governments say after this tragedy. Free Speech???Democracy?? WTF? Are freedom and democracy have to be demonstrated by insulting other religion beliefs? The same thing with the film "Interview" which insults North Korean leader and made the real alive foreign president killed in this movie. Are these so called free speech???

Civilians are innocent. But they just paid for their fcking governments.

Anyway, just put religions aside. Isn't Safety a far more important thing than politic ideologies after this attack? A dozen of ppl got killed, and politicians just seem like got a tool. It really make me disgusted to hear words like "free speech" or "democracy" right after such a tragedy. And apparently it does no help in this case but cause more hostility among communities .

The most disgusting thing nowadays is that western governments turn serious political terms of "Democracy" and "freedom" into kind of a new religion and even lunched wars by the name of it.

Truth is: there is no unlimited freedom in any kind of form. People got FBI at the door by just joking online, and insulting a religion or a foreign leader on a public media is FREE SPEECH and get underwritten by government!

Free Speech means Free Insulting? I only know this kind of magazine can never be allowed to publish in China, a country which "has no Religion Freedom" in western media's views. Irony?Western governments are true brain washers who have been dedicated to fool ppl all over the world. NO, they claim themselves as "world".

Since India started the terrorism in 2006 by bombing Pakistani civilians in the Samjotha train they are got a payback for Mumbai. What has India done to apprehend the terrorists in India? They are roaming freely...

If you are referring to the Military Courts being established I am not for it.

It amounts to abdication of responsibility of the Govt , in the short term it may seem nice but like a steroid it shall permanent long term implications.

Are you blind? It was a pakistani who bombed the train. He is still in pakistan. Apparently good terrorist. But the question wasn't for you. Now stop whining like a 3 year old girl and let the person to whom it was posed answer.

I am not sure what you are trying to get at. I was citing recent events. You, I am sure, are already aware of the U.S. Administration's views on all terrorist attacks, including the one you mentioned. The main topic of this discussion is the recently passed 21st Amendment, let's stay on topic.

Thanks for your response. Good Day

Few steps must be taken out , if we really want to fight these lunatics ...

1. separate Radicals from non violent Muslims
2. Stop making fun of Prophets and any religion
3. those Muslim who are living in West , should build up relationship with their Govt , and always give information to their govt about any suspicious activities .
4. stop Arming good or bad rebels ..
5. those who still stand up with weapons on the name of Religion , kill them ..
What if it is an armed jehad for separation from cruel non believers.

1) Whack-a-mole isn't sufficient deterrence to terrorists who consider such death a certain path to paradise or as providing a big payoff to their surviving families.

2) Military rule and courts are bludgeons that can create cures worse than the disease, whether they be the disappeared of 1970s Argentina or Judge Jeffreys' Bloody Assizes under James III.

3) The weaknesses of Pakistan's colonial-control-era justice system are well-known: inaccessibility to those who don't speak English, the lack of witness and judge protection, the lack of marshals, the protection of favored thugs by the powerful who take advantage of the system's weakness, and the resort to extra-judicial killings and consequent need for extra-legal protection of the extra-judicial killers. Addressing these will have more effect than military courts. Pakistan-wide witness protection programs can be implemented, marshals empowered, an FBI-type limited law enforcement organ created from the existing bureaucracy, subsidies and translators provided to the poor at government or non-profit expense, and truth-and-reconciliation commissions created.

It has been the unfortunate reflex of Pakistan's politicians to seek military intervention when the going gets tough. It is even more unfortunate that Pakistan's military leaders take the bait rather than themselves advocating vocally the changes they think need to be made and insisting upon staying in the barracks (though I suppose they could offer their bases as refuge for frightened politicians regardless of political persuasion.)

Ali Khan in the bathroom and some other on the moon at it again. When we fight terrorists they start moaning about human rights and when we don't they are lashing our buttocks with the "whip". We need to pull away from the US. They will abandon us like they did before. Sanctions like the Presler Amendment may soon be coming.

Who is "They"? You seem to be confusing different entities and organizations.

Everyone, thank you for your inputs. Have a wonderful weekend.

People of any religion would be offended there was a case of a French company using Hindu deities on foot sandals now Hindus took legal action and the French company had to apologise and withdraw the items. That is the correct way of protesting but using the gun to achieve the goal will only lead to more hatred and more mocking not less.

those Muslim who are living in West , should build up relationship with their Govt , and always give information to their govt about any suspicious activities .

This is a key point but it is pushing the extreme elements underground and tracking them is not easy for any Govt. Most Masjids in UK are working with the Police but the extreme elements do not go to mainstream Mosques so how can they find them? only way is perhaps if families might find out and inform the police but again children can hide things.
How many times are we going to tell them nicely that we consider it very disrespectful if they make cartoons like that...they have seen the consequences of their actions. If they make these cartoons or something again and they get attacked for it, I will not condemn the the attackers again, nor will I apologize. Sometimes enough is enough.
